It all started with trip to Vegas for Kellie's 16th birthday present, the WB Radio Music Awards on October 28, 1999. We left right after 4th period (12:30) and headed right up to Vegas. When we got there, we changed quickly in a bathroom, fixed our hair and then went right to Mandalay Bay for the show. Once we got there we didn't have to wait very long before Mandalay let us in the arena. Our seats were way in the back, but it didn't matter we could still see fine! The only problem was they told us before we came that we were not aloud to bring cameras at all! It was totally a lie because everyone around us had a camera! Well, about 5 min before the show started, *N Sync came and sat in their 2nd row seats. All the girls went crazy screaming and waving at them. Kellie and I were about to faint because we were so excited! Well the show finally started and we just couldn't keep our eyes off of *N Sync! So instead of watching Kid Rock perform we stared at *N Sync's every move. During the first commercial break they left to change and get ready for their performance. When they came out to sing all the girls in the building had to be screaming! They started off with the remix of "Tearing Up My Heart," like the MTV's VMAs, and then went into "I Want You Back." Then the music changed and the radio announcer screamed "And here is *N Sync to sing their hot new single, Bye Bye Bye!" We were the first people to ever hear and see their new song live! They did an excellent job with perfect, sharp, new dance moves and beautiful voices. After their little show they never came back out to sit down. We were a little upset, but we thought positively and just said, "God has a plan!"

After the awards, we planned to go check out the new hotels on the strip, like Paris, hopping that maybe *N Sync would go there since it was brand new! Before we left we walked around Mandalay. It was so beautiful inside! We were heading out through the casino when we caught red hair in the corner of our eyes. We all turned to the blackjack tables and there sitting less than 30ft away was Joey Fatone (of *N Sync if you didn't know) Oh my gosh we were about to die with shock! We didn't have the camera with us so Kellie's mom volunteered to run to the car and get them. So Kellie and I just stood by a wall and stared at Joey while he gambled peacefully.

It seemed like a million years before Mrs. Kocher came back with the camera. When she did, though, she went as close as she could get in front of him and took pictures. After awhile we decided to look around the casino for any of the other guys. (By now we decided not to leave Mandalay.) When we found nobody we came back to where Joey was, but he was gone! We were about to cry when Mrs. Kocher yelled, "Look!" We turned around just in time to see JC walking out from the elevator area into the casino followed by about 10 to 15 screaming girls. Well we couldn't let him get away! We went along with the others chasing him! Thinking I could maybe cut him off, I took a short cut through the slot machines and meet him right as he is heading into the House of Blues. (A restaurant) I went crazy taking pictures of him not wondering where Kellie and her mom were. When JC finally headed into the restaurant, I looked around for everyone but they were no where around! I started to panic thinking I was lost when Mrs. Kocher comes running up to me all upset. She explains to me what had happened to Kellie and her. What happened was Kellie and her kept following the crowed behind JC when I went off my own way. Then a security guard who must have been real stupid, grabbed Kellie and ordered her to go to the lobby because she was under 21. Well Kellie wasn't the only one under 21 around! About 99% of the other girls following JC were 14 or younger and also none of them had a mother or father with them, unlike Kellie who did! It wasn't fair and Mrs. Kocher got in a big fight over the issue, but the security guard won and Kellie had to walk all by herself to the lobby while her mom came and got me.

We decided to go and get Kellie and come back to the House of Blues to show her where JC was. I was still in a state of shock from chasing JC down so I didn't really know what was happening. As we headed towards were Kellie was we heard screaming girls, a sure sign of an *N Sync member around. We noticed a whole bunch of girls being pushed back onto a tile area. We were clueless to what was happening until Justin Timberlake walked right by us! That was it, Mrs. Kocher took off through the casino after him. I followed close behind trying not to loose it. She cut him off which must have shocked him because he stopped and smiled at her. (He probably noticed she was one of the only people able to run after him.) Then he continued on right past me! By now I was hyperventilating and shacking like crazy! I opened my mouth to say, "Hi Justin!" but nothing would come out. I just stood there like an idiot staring at him. I did hear his bodyguard talk into a radio saying they were on their way to the House of Blues. Mrs. Kocher helped me walk as we went to get Kellie. We grabbed her went right back to the House of Blues.

Girls were everywhere looking for the same people we were. Mrs. Kocher went up to the lady at the door who worked there to ask if we could eat there. We could but there was a 45-minute waiting list. So we sat in the waiting area and wondered where the guys all were. That's when we noticed that there was a place off to the side called the Club. You had to enter in another door, but the sign said, "WB Award After Party." We were not leaving this place now! By the time we got seated we were starving. As we looked through the menus for something good we carefully scanned the restaurant. I could see all the tables except for one back in the corner. I leaned forward and saw part of the table. Sitting on the end was Justin's bodyguard! I leaned back so I could see the rest of the table and I could see JC, his bodyguard, and a girl next to JC (I think his girlfriend) on one side and Justin, some girl, and his bodyguard. I had to practically sit on Kellie's lap to see the whole table. Kellie and I just stared at them as they talked and ate. We even tried to persuade the waiter to go over and ask them to sing for Kellie's birthday or to bring them a note for us, but he told us he wasn't aloud to unless he wanted to be fired. We made no other plans, we just stared! (We now realize how stupid we were not to do anything!)

Johnny Wright came in and sat with them for about five minutes and then they all started to get up to leave. We went crazy trying to decide what to do! Kellie and her mom ran to the area they had to walk through to leave and I just sat at the table in shock! Mrs. Kocher came back and made me go and stand with Kellie. So Kellie and I waited for them to exit the place. JC came first and signed one autograph and then was pushed by his bodyguard to move on. As he walked by, I thought I saw Kellie reach out and grab his arm so I grabbed his elbow! It wasn't Kellie, but she saw me reach for him and tapped him on his arm. Then Justin came around the corner and I just froze again! He was being pushed through quickly so I knew I had to take a picture! I couldn't get my fingers to work right and when I finally did I flashed right in his face! I took another one of him walking away. (He was probably seeing bright lights all around!) They went inside the Club so we couldn't follow them. We went back to our table to eat. That was pretty much impossible since we were shaking so much and so stunned at what just happened. We even tried to convince the waiter to let us have their silverware or napkins. He thought we were crazy and wouldn't let us. We sat there and tried to comprehend what had just happened to us.

After dinner we headed over to the payphones to call our families to tell them what had happened. I don't think they really were able to understand us since we were so excited and talked really fast. We went to the car and dropped off our doggy bags and got more film. We were ready for another adventure!

When we went back into Mandalay we made a round through the casino just in case one of them was in there and then we headed back over the payphones by the elevators to call Katie, Kellie's sister to wake her up and tell her that we touched JC! Mrs. Kocher had trouble getting through so we just stood around gazing at were we first saw Joey earlier that evening. Then we heard the familiar sound of screaming girls again! Coming through the casino we could see Joey, Justin, and all their bodyguards, followed by a huge herd of teeny boppers! I took off for them right away but Kellie stood for awhile in shock. The elevator area is made up of 3 different elevator lobbies for the different floors. One was for the top floor of Mandalay that is called the House of Blues Foundation. (It is a club that cost $5,000 to become a member of!) The guys were headed for it.

The area by the elevators is not that big so we were all crammed into this little area, all trying to reach Justin and Joey. I got caught up in all the shoving and pushing and before I knew it I was standing right behind Joey. I could not even think of what to do! I just reached up to touch him and could not stop! He was wearing a leather jacket and he smelled so good! I guess you can say I was petting Joey's arm! That was until his bodyguard who was trying to get the guys into the elevator pushed me. Well he pushed me right into the person next to Joey. That just happened to be Lance Bass! He turned to look at me when I bumped him and I got to see his beautiful green-yellow eyes. Of course I did not do or say anything. I just stood there with my mouth wide opened and stared! He gave me a strange look and turned around. I knew I had to touch him so I could say I touched Lance! But when I reached out I got pushed again, so instead of touching him I shoved him. He glanced at me again over his shoulder probably thinking I was a wacko. When I did some lady behind me started to scream at me, telling me not to touch him. That is when I finally realized that I was in the middle of all of *N Sync and their bodyguards! Somehow I got pushed into the little group, but by the time I realized it they pushed me out! So I quickly started to take pictures of Lance and Joey.

Soon after I started to chase the crowed Kellie ran after. She ended up on the other side of Lance and touched him! But she was ordered not to touch Lance by the same lady that I was. All Kellie wanted to do was touch him and this lady got all mean! (We found out later that the lady was their manager, Johnny Wright's assistant, Melinda.)

Well they finally got through the crowed into the elevator and left our sight. The whole time they were trying to get in the elevator Mr. Kocher wanted to make sure we saw Lance and was yelling, "It's Lance! It's Lance!"

We walked around the area and found out what the House of Blues Foundation was and that there was only one way in and out of it! That meant that the guys had to come back out the elevator soon. We quickly went back to the House of Blues hopping that JC would be around and decided to go into the little store there. We bought t-shirts, key chains, and postcards in memory of where we saw JC and Justin. The guy that worked there figured out that we were *N Sync fans some how and told us that earlier that night, Lance's bodyguard accidentally led Lance, who was being followed by many girls, right into the store thinking it was the Club, which was the next door down. He got caught in a corner and the guy said he looked like a little mouse. So in memory we took a picture in the corner.

Then we went back to wait for them to come down out of the elevator. Kellie noticed her shoe untied so we went against the wall so she could tie it. I was leaning against the wall and she faced me with her butt sticking right out into the crowd. It was no big deal until a big group of older people stopped right behind her so now the whole walkway was blocked up. Then I noticed people coming towards us and told Kellie that she might want to move. She didn't listen and before I could say anything else I saw Chris! I opened my mouth to tell Kellie but all that would come out was, "Kellie…people coming…move butt…" I just kept mumbling words, which made her even more frustrated. She moved over a little but it made her even more in the way. Chris was with his girlfriend and a bodyguard. There were some people following him but not a big crowd like before. Chris was in the front of the group and stopped right behind Kellie. I was too stunned to even move. I just stood there with my mouth wide open and my eyes bulging out. He must have wanted to laugh because Kellie and her butt where just sticking out right in front of him. His bodyguard asked the older people to move instead of Kellie and they went by. Right after he did I just whispered to Kellie, "Chris just walked by!" Mrs. Kocher happened to be right by the elevators and saw him coming. He accidentally went into the wrong elevator area and had to come back out by us. When he walked by Mrs. Kocher she said, "Hi Chris" and he turned around and said, "Hi how's it going." (Chris talked to her!) Kellie and I just watched him walk by and didn't say a word. He finally found the elevator to the Foundation and went up.

Not long after Chris went up Justin came back down. He walked right by us and of course I was too nervous to say anything or to reach out. I did take a picture of him as he headed into another elevator to his room. It seemed like just seconds after that Joey came back down with his girlfriend, Justin and Drew from 98 degrees, and all their bodyguards. They all headed to the blackjack tables and played together. As they left Kid Rock came through the crowd with his people and he walked right by us. They all went up the elevator to their rooms, but Kid Rock came back down a few minutes later. He went up to this guy and started cussing and pushing him. Kid Rock went back to his room and the bodyguard started pushing the guy. Two guys started a fight. A huge crowd formed and I started to worry. I didn't want to get hurt so we moved back. It wasn't long till security had it under control.

We were just standing around waiting when the one and only Tom Green came walking up. He started talking to a guy so Kellie and I stood next to them waiting to talk to him. I took a picture but when I went to take the next one he turned around and made a funny face at me! It scared me so much I didn't take the second picture.

We decided to go take a picture of Joey playing Blackjack with 98 degrees for a memory. As we headed over there we ran into two really nice girls who watched the awards on TV and decided to come to Mandalay to find stars. We showed them Joey and 98 degrees and told them all about our night. Mrs. Kocher went to take the picture while we talked to the girls. She went right up to the table and took a good picture. When she came back one of the girls asked Mr. Kocher if she would take a picture for her. She wanted to be in the picture too. So the girl went and pretended to walk behind the table and Mrs. Kocher took the picture. As they were walking back to us, one of 98 degree's bodyguard came up to them and asked Mrs. Kocher for her film saying he let her get away with the first one, but not the second one. He also said it was a bad image for his boys. Since it wasn't her camera she didn't want to give it to him. She argued with him saying that we weren't going to do any thing with the film, but he told her to hand it over or he was going to get security. Mrs. Kocher was cool and said, "I am sorry but I can't do that!" She put the camera in her purse and walked away. Kellie and I had no idea that this was going on. So when Mrs. Kocher came up to us and told us it was time to leave we didn't understand. We just followed her to the front of the casino with big guys following us! Once we were outside Mrs. Kocher gave the girls back their camera and they went back inside.

We didn't want to leave so we went in another entrance and stood on the other side of the elevators. As we headed in we walked right by *N Sync's guitar player, Ruben but didn't say anything. When we were in our positions by the elevator Ruben walked by again. This time Kellie said hi to him. He stopped and talked to us, gave Kellie an autograph and even took a picture with us. He was really a nice guy.

After we talked to him we noticed this guy coming out of the elevator from the Foundation. We had no idea who he was, but he smiled at us. To be polite Kellie smiled back. While he was talking to all the people around him he kept looking at us and smiling. Finally he came over to us and said, "They're not up there any more." We all had a cold shiver go down our backs. How could this guy know whom we were waiting for? Well I told him some of them were gambling in the casino still. Then Kellie asked him what it was like up there (the foundation). The guy smiled and asked if any of were over 21. Mrs. Kocher laughed at him. He told her to come on and he would give her a tour. So Kellie and I stood and watched Mrs. Kocher get on the elevator with this guy to go look around in the place where *N Sync was earlier!

We stood and waited for over 20 minutes for them to come back down. While we stood in wonder Johnny Wright (*N Sync's Manager) came walking by, but he was busy talking to some guy about business so we didn't interrupt him. Mrs. Kocher and the man finally came back down. He introduced himself to us as Manny, wished Kellie a happy birthday, and just talked for a little while. The only thing else we knew about him was what he told Mrs. Kocher when they were upstairs. He was a normal guy from Colorado who had a friend with a membership there. He absolutely loved it and thought we would too. He wished he could have brought us up there too, but didn't want to get in trouble. After he left Mrs. Kocher told us about how beautiful it was. The place had stained glass windows from real castles, different private rooms for all occasions. A private screening room, restaurants, and all kinds of places. There also was a balcony where you could see all of the strip from Mandalay and up.

It was after 1:00 A.M. and we needed to go to our hotel to sleep. As we left we walked by Joey and got a final look at him. It was just he and his girlfriend left at the table playing blackjack. It was a very emotional moment as we headed away from Joey. Our dream of seeing *N Sync had finally come true and it was already over. We thanked God for every moment that night. God always placed us in the right spot at the right time. Some day the rest or our dream of meeting *N Sync and actually talking to them will come true. God will always make a way!
