BELTAINE (pronounced beel-teen or Beel-tawn-uh)- April 30 or May 1. This holiday falls opposite of Samhain. This is considered the second greatest Sabbat of the Wheel. Beltaine celebrates the festival of rebirth, as Samhain represents the celebration of death. Beltaine is the holiday of the bale fire that brings blessings unto the home. One may decorate one's altar with hawthorn, spring greenery, and items which have been made in the winter months for spring and summer use. Also one could use holey stones, flowers and many other things. East is the opening and closing quarter. Romance plays a large role in this celebration, as we envision the love between the Lord and the Lady. Beltaine is known for feasting,laughter and fun. This can be incorporated through song and dance.
