IMBOLGC -also known as Candlemas (pronounced em-bowl/g)-February 2 We honor the Goddess her recovery of giving birth to the God, and the advent of the birth and growth of the land. There are some Witches who add the Celtic triple Goddess Brigid. Bridgid represents fire, water, healing, inspiration, and artistic endeavors. They incorporate it into there Imbolgc rites. In some rituals, the High Priestess will wear a crown of lights to signify the Goddess' strength and her movement of the seasons into the light of the spring and summer months. Imbolgc represents the first day of the Wiccan spring. The word "candlemas" represents the candles lit this night to signify the awakening of the earth. This holiday is also known as "The Festival of Light". The light of the candles corresponds to sympathetic magick, drawing the essence of the sun people. The primary tool for this sabbat is all candle magick.
