202: PROPULSION SYSTEM
SH/HH-60F/H EAWS SPECIFIC
1. State the purpose of the following T700 engine components:
b. Hot section: Combustion section-
Combines air and fuel mixture.
c. Power turbine:
Two-stages; First section is the gas generator, Second stage is the power turbine.
d. Accessory section:
On top of the swirl frame and houses components starter, fuel pump chip detector etc.
e. Engine control quadrant:
Inside of cockpit where the pilot selects engine control.
4. State the purpose of the following transmission section components.
b. Input module:
Changes the angle of drive and reduces rpm and houses accessory module
c. Accessory module:
Reduces rpm from input module and houses the hydraulic pump and generator.
d. Intermediate gearbox:
Reduces rpm and changes angle of drive.
e. Tail gearbox:
Reduces rpm and changes angle of drive shaft and drives the tail rotor.
b. Auxiliary fuel tanks:
Externally located and houses additional fuel. Holds 120 gals (816 lbs. of JP-5).
c. Internal fuel cell:
(SH-60F Only) Located in the cabin and houses additional fuel. Holds 105 gals
(714 lbs. of Jp-5).
