Summers
Joyce met her future husband Hank Summers at her high school prom.She
went alone and was miserable untill she met Hank.When Buffy went to
High School their fighting escalated leading them to a divorce.She
works at the art museum which keeps her away from home.She tries to
bond with her daughter Buffy over ice cream and a movie but finds
understanding her daughter elusive.She hates that Buffy can't
confide in her mother for things like dating Angel.She likes that
Buffy can fend for herself but wants her daughter to ask her for
things once in a while.With all the bizarre things happenning in
Sunnydale she was completely oblivious to the fact her daughter
was a slayer untill Buffy told her after slaying a vampire. Joyce has been overly protective towards Buffy since she ran away but accepts Buffy's powers and supports them. She has since used Buffy's room as a storage room for boxes from the museum. She has recetly acquired a new daughter Dawn and had a life threatening brain tumor removed. Joyce Summers is played by Kristine Sutherland.
