The
Master
60 years ago a very old,very powerful vampire came to this shore,and not
just to feed.For the first 12 episodes The Master,the leader of the
Order of Aurelius,was Buffy's arch-enemy.Although it is never said on
screen but Joss Whedon in his original teleplay wrote that his name
is Heinrich Joseph Nest.He said that he was the most powerful of
vampires and was roughly 600 years old.The Master was drawn to Sunnydale
by the Hellmouth.As a worshiper of the Old Ones(the demons that inhabit
the Hellmouth)he was hoping to open the Hellmouth and free the demons.
Although his first attempt to open the Hellmouth in 1937 was stopped
by an earthquake,that devoured half the town and a church that later
became the Master's lair,that while the Hellmouth was opening the Master
fell in and the earthquake trapped him between Hell and Earth.He
although was once freed in Nightmares because of a boy in a coma he
later returned to captivity when the boy woke up.In Prophecy Girl he
was freed and he was to fight the Slayer and she would die according
to the Pergamum Codex.Buffy at first did not want to face him but
later entered his lair when he attacked and bit her dropping her into
a pool of water where she drowned but was brought back to life by
Xander using CPR.The Master had acheived his dream the Hellmouth was
opening and the Old Ones were emerging untill Buffy met up with him.
Their battle ended when the Master was impaled and died on broken
furniture in the school library.Giles and the gang later buried his
bones in consecrated ground but his remaining followers tried to revive
him but Buffy stopped them smashing his bones to dust.Right now we
assume he is gone forever but is he really.
