Wiccan Religion-A Neo/Pagan Religion

Merry Meet and Bright Blessings.  Welcome to my religion web page.  I am quite proud of my religion and very happy with it in my heart and in my soul.  I am open about my religion and try not to hide it from anyone.  I have put some things on this web page from books I have read.  The following information is from:"The Complete Book of Witchcraft" by Raymond Buckland, "The Grimoire of Shadows " by Ed Fitch, "Positive Magic" by Marion Wienstien, "An ABC of Witchcraft" by Valiente, "The Law Enforcement Guide to Wicca" by Kerr Cuhulan, " Wicca, A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham and "The Candle Magick Workbook" by Kala and Ketz Pajeon.  These are not the only sources, but the major part of them, as well as from a natural Witch.

This page is dedicated to my children.  May the road you choose to the light, guide you to happiness as well.  Always stand up for yourself and never falter.  I will be there beside you every step of whatever path you choose.  Follow the inner voice inside you.  It won't guide you wrong.  And always remember, Mommy loves you more than you will ever know.  If you choose not to follow my same path, that is fine.  When you are old enough to make that decision, I will respect you for it.  But if you do follow my path,  don't let anyone tell you it is wrong.  I will teach you as you are older and love you forever, no matter what.  You all are my world, my life, my babies.  :)

Ok, Now that I have said my peace, I am going to start telling what I have found, including in the King James Bible.  Bare with me all, for it will all be outlined.  I still am not sure how I am going to do this, but I will just let it all role out and see what I come up with.  This page will be under construction for sometime until I feel I have gotten everything and all that I can into it, without violating any of the rules of our religion. In doing this page I have found it to be very long.  I broke this into different pages for each topic, but left history here.  Any ideas?  Let me know please.  I am still under construction here.... :)

Wicca/Pagan/Neo-Pagan/Witchcraft/Wiccan/Druidism=Old Religion

HISTORY

Dr. Margaret Murray traced back and saw witchcraft origins in Palaeolithic times, some 25,000 years ago.  Recently scholars disputed this and she presented tangible evidence and much thought provoking material.

With the coming of Christianity, there was NOT the immediate mass conversion that is often suggested.  Christianity had not evolved gradually and naturally over thousands of years, as Old Religion did.  An attempt at mass conversion was made by Pope Gregory the Great.  He thought that one way to get people to attend the new Christian churches was to have them built on sites of older temples, where people were accustomed to gathering together to worship.  Pope Gregory ordered the smashing of "idols" and sprinkling temples with holy water and rededication of them.  Since there was no Christians around, the first Christian Churches were built by Pagans themselves.  In decorating, the stonemasons and wood carvers very cleverly incorporated figures of their own deities.  This way if they were forced to attend these churches, they could still worship their own God and Goddess.

In early days, when Christianity was growing in strength, Old Religion, Wiccans and other Pagans-were one of it's rivals.  Frequently it has been said that the God's of the Old Religion become the devil's of the new.  The God of the Old Religion is a Horned God because of his link to the wild animals that the people would have to hunt to survive.  So apparently, was the Christians devil.  Obviously then, reasoned the church, the Pagans were devil worshippers.

Same type of reasoning today's Missionaries were particularly prone to label all primitive tribes upon whom they stumble on as devil worshippers because the tribe worshipped a God or Gods other than the Christian one.  It would not matter that the people were good, happy often morally and ethically better living than the vast majority of Christians.... they had to be converted to believe in Christianity as the only way.

Christianity "invented" the devil in the fourteenth century.  Then, Government and the church were considered the same.  They needed someone to blame for, a scapegoat, for people's agony.  There is no evidence in the Old or New Testament of any character answering the description of "The Devil" or "Satan" as being a "Horned God".  There is biblical references to fallen angels or Kings named Satan and Lucifer.

As Christianity grew in strength, Old Religion was slowly pushed back.  Non-Christians at that time became known as Pagans and Heathens.

Pagan comes from the word Pagani which means people who live in the country.

Heathen means people who dwell on the heath.

Terms that were appropriate for non-christians at that time, but bore no evil connotation and their use today, when used as slander, is quite incorrect.

Doctrine of the existence of a personal Devil has of late years been dropped by many leading churchmen.

The belief in a rebellious Satan as the power of evil has always been contrary to the text in Isaiah 45:7 "I formed the light, and create darkness; I make peace and created evil; I the Lord do all these things."

Catholic churches, which laid down the dogma that all gods of older religions were really devils, all pagans were devil worshipers and that bad treatment was fair game.  That attitude still appears to be maintained.  Catholic Church-Christianity "invented" devil to hold mass together with fear.

Mostly gotten from The Complete Book of Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland.
