PROFILE

Jamie Pearlman proved his defensive worth during the 1996 Play Offs when he virtually shut down the two best point guards in the league, Shane Heal and Andrew Gaze. His tight defense kept the Cannons in both series as the opposition had lost their go to men. Pearlman has also proven himself to be a valuable point guard, pushing the ball up the court at every opportunity. Pearlman has been with the Cannons for a number of years, it is evident that Flanigan has the utmost confidence in this player. Pearlman's court time started to increase in 1995 where he played in all 26 Cannons games and averaged 9.2 ppg, 4.0apg and 3.5rpg, this sort of contribution was just what the Cannons needed with the talented Robert Rose running the lanes, somebody has to get the ball to Canberra's talented big men as well and Pearlman has proved that he is never shy when it comes to penetrating and giving it up inside for a big Dwight or Borner Dunk. But the emergence of Defensive specialist Brendan Mann saw Pearlman lose his starting job in 1997. Yet he still provided the Cannons with valueable outside shooting and hard nose defence.
