Part I: "The Invention of the Synthesizer"

A combination of photos and film footage with interviews of Moog and Buchla. Archive footage will include the prototypes and first commercial synthesizers, Theremins that Moog sold as a young man, predecessors such as the piano and organ, etc. These interviews will be combined with footage of the early performances by Schulze, Carlos, Ciani, Emerson, Jarre, etc.

Part II: "The Pioneers"

A more in-depth look and interviews with the pioneers who brought the synthesizer to the forefront of the music world with their innovative albums, playing style, and use as a solo artist or part of a band. Usage in commercials (Ciani) and film (Carlos).

Part III: "The Race for First Place"

Highlighting burdgeoning companies (i.e. Korg, Sequential Circuits, Arp, Roland, etc.) as they competed to create a better synthesizer, including how and who utilized them. Also included will be groups such as Kraftwerk and Synergy showing the use and development of drum machines and sequencers; other products that made a prominent showing like the guitar synthesizer; the introduction of Keyboard magazine and its influence.

Part IV: "The Progressive Rock Era"

Highlighting great performers such as Emerson, Wakeman, Moraz, Hammer, etc.

Part V: "The New Age"

Highlighting great instrumentalists like Jarre,Tomita, Fast, Kitaro, Vangelis, etc.

Part VI: "The Disco Craze & Techno"

Showing the move from progressive rock to the dance and electronic era with bands such as DEVO, Blondie, Duran Duran, Asia, The Buggles, New Order, Depeche Mode, Art of Noise, Information Society, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, etc. Also, the birth of MIDI.

Part VII: "The Soundtrack"

Showcasing the orchestration and scoring by award-winning composers like Elfman, Fiedel, Maurice Jarre, Isham, Rona, etc.

Part VIII: "The '80s & '90s"

Present the re-emergence of progression with bands such as Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Dream Theater and delve into the new sounds of Industrial and Electronica music with entertainers such as Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, God Lives Underwater, The Hunger,Republica, and more. Also showcasing the vast array of computer programs available to work with ( i.e. Cakewalk, Edittrack, etc.)

Part IX: "The 21st Century"

New innovations; the musical movement; what companies and musicians are expecting; what the public can expect from electronic synthesizers.This will include new designs as well as the fastly-growing, all-digtal recording, broadcasting, and marketing of artists via the Internet.

This synopsis is only an example of the subject matter and guests intended for this series. Other musicians, inventors, and companies fitting into any of these formats are welcome to participate and to be a part of this groundbreaking documentary.
