SIMPLE FRIENDS AND REAL FRIENDS
A simple friend can stand by you when you are right,
but a real friend will stand by you even when you are wrong.
A simple friend identifies himself/herself when she calls.
A real friend doesn't have to.
A simple friend opens a conversation with a full news bulletin on his/her life.
A real friend says, "What's new with you?"
A simple friend thinks the problems you whine about are recent.
A real friend says, "You've been whining about the same thing for 14 years.
Get off your duff and do something about it."
A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.
A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in his/her address book.
A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.
A simple friend hates it when you call after he/she has gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.
A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.
A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.
A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps herself.
A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend knows that it's not a friendship until after you've had a fight.
A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects you to always be there for you.
Are you simple or real?
From the Heart of Maryjane
So tell me what do you think? Am I simple or am I real? It's a question I've been asking for many years. I don't handle matters of the heart as well as I'd like. Come too think of it I'm an emotional wreck! When it comes to people pain! Don't know what that is? Well let's see, if you have a headache you can take a pill and if your lucky it will go away. The unpleasant sensation of being hurt by people pain is a bit harder to get rid of because it effects your head as well as your heart and much harder to let go of as I've learned. Emotional, deep feelings that when you don't know why it is happening. It really tugs at you in the worse way. It makes you cry, it makes you sad, it's depressing, to love, to care, and to be shut out. I want no more of you then you want to give.
I will give as I have and will die and leave this earth, as we know it with the giving nature that I've learned. If there are some of you out there that feel as I do and your not afraid to get involved and your not afraid to say I care, and you mean a lot to me, then I'd love to hear from you. I think the more I get torn down the more I get up and look for more. I don't want to feel worthless any more, I need to like myself again. I'm finally talking with a few people here and there helping me. So special thanks to my friends, Carol, Inez, Linda and everyone else that has helped me. You all know how I feel and how much I appreciate your help.
