"Two Tales to Tell"
At one time or another we may all be able to relate.
With something nice, or something not so nice.
For instance-we have all probably said this one, where are they when you need one?
Or boy if I did that I’d get caught?
How about this, really was I going that fast? Or what stop sign?
This ones good, your going 65 mph in a 25 mph zone, no not me, it had to be that car in front of me.
Ok I think you now know whom I’m talking about.
Our townships finest those men in blue, those guys who lay their lives on the line for us. Police men and women.
The two times I needed them they sure came through for me and of course my special kids.
Again all my problems always seemed to happen in the wintertime.
And after I’ve picked up all my kids, and headed to school.
It’s cold out side and on a road that’s not very well traveled. That’s when Murphy’s law will come in.
What happened was I broke down the bus just stopped nope had plenty of gas think it was just tired.
I sat there for what seemed like hours, but I knew it wasn’t that long before a policeman came along, I asked if he would call the Bus Co. for me and of course he would and did.
Now it was really getting cold (vans are like that when the heat is off.) So he took us all to the station. We sat the kids around a big table.
I was then able to call the parents, they were all fine with coming to get their kids.
What just made my day was the police that helped that day,
All the kids were given coloring books and crayons and they sat there like they were in school.
And that there was nothing unusual about what had just happened.
They got to ride in a police car, and that was great.
One by one as a parent came for their child they got up and with coloring book and crayons in hand they left.
There was one that didn’t want to leave, he was doing some really nice work and he wanted to finish, he did leave but crying…
The other tale is a bit different, but again the police helped
When help was needed.
I had two boys that couldn’t look at each other without fighting sat them as far away as possible from each other.
But as soon as I drove off they would find their way to each other and really throw the punches.
After days of stopping the bus to break them up, i told them that i would have to take them to the police station if they didn’t leave each other alone.
Well no they never did listen, so one day I was driving where there was a state police barracks, and I saw that there was a policeman gassing up his patrol car.
I gave them one last warning to stop or I would pull in.
They didn’t so I had to follow through it was quiet and the officer didn’t notice me pull in.
He was just finishing up so I came up to him and I guess I must have surprised him because as he turned I noticed the hose he was using was leaking.
As he turned I could tell he was startled and the gas ran down the front of his pants boy
I don’t know who wanted to disappear first, that didn’t stop him he finished what he was doing and came over to the bus.
He then very calmly spoke to the boys Do you know it worked for about 3 days?
Yes then they were back at it only this time they were rested and they were tougher on each other then before.
I finally had to get a bigger van and I had to seat them so that they couldn’t see each other.
What my two tales come to is they are here to help us,
And I have a great respect for all people who give of themselves to help others.
