1992, on the banks of Humbolt a new band formed out of the dismantled Brent's T.V. Chris and John, joined with Al (ex-Green Day drummer) and dancing Jess (known for his innovative cassete-'zine Troop Librarian) on bass they became the suit wearing THE NE'ER DO WELLS!! The music was as energetic, spunky, and carefree, and downright the business. For some time the only fruit of the band on record was the 7" EP Hello It Is I, The Intolerable Bastard, Child Genius. Which has six superific songs : "hello, it is I, thee intolerable bastard, child genius", "because", "johnny wobble", "where's mickey", "french verbs", and the Dick Dale classic "misirlou". The Ne'er Do Wells did play across the country, and were known for intersting interviews (Al would explain how to steal gigs from other bands by sabatoging border crossings.) Later more of their material was released on a split CD Hello Again with Judy and the Loadies. Judy and The Loadies was very similar to The Ne'er Do Wells, it had Judy singing, John singing/guitar, Jess on bass, and Chris on drums! They really did rock! Also at about this time Chris, Jess and Al were in the band Thee Shatners, a Star Trek inspired surf group. Green Blooded Love!!! but by 1994 part of the magic was lost, and Al Sobrante left the group. It wasn't too long before John, Chris, and Jess flowed into THE HI-FIVES!! (also, it should be noted that Dr Frank from MTX filled in on drums for a bit between The Ne'er Do Wells and The Hi-Fives) Al Sobrante Update!- Al Sobrante was in a punk band the Ritalins, but they were to crazy for him, and the band broke up recently. Al was also the manager of Sacramento's own band The Shruggs, but they have ceased to be. Most recently he produced "The Lost Troublemakers Album" by The Troublemakers, a great garage band from Sacramento. It is on Sreaming Apple Records.
