Plot - Song and Dance has two separate halves. Firstly there is a song cycle called
'Tell me on a sunday', then there is a choreographed dance section called 'Variations',
both written at separate times by ALW. 'Variations' doesn't have a story. 'Tell me on a Sunday'
is a one woman show about an English girl living in New York. The songs are mainly about her
love affairs, and one by one they go wrong. There are also some songs about coming to terms
with New York life in general. The English girl joins in again at the end of Variations dance for
one last song.

1.Let me finish (7)
* Favourite song - Nothing like you've ever known
Favourite character - Let me weigh up the options....
Favourite quote -
"Don't leave in silence with no word at all. Don't get drunk and slam the door.
Thats no way to end this. I know how I want you to say goodbye. Don't run off in the pouring rain,
don't call me as they call your plane, take the heart out of all the pain. Take me to a park
thats covered with trees. Tell me on a Sunday...please."
Comment - You get a lot of value for money with Song and Dance. 'Tell me on a Sunday' would
be a great little musical on it's own, but you get the rockin' violins of Variations too! There
are lots of lovely songs in 'Tell me on a Sunday', and some great snaps of American culture. It
could have been better with some of her men singing a song or two, but then the point was a one woman show.
Variations on it's own would not be that good, but there are some really cool tunes in it and
the superb 'When you want to fall in love' at the end. Despite 'Tell me on a sunday' and 'Variations' being
part of the same musical, I've never actually listened to them together!
