My Awards and Achievements
During my studies and works I have been awarded numbers of Scholarships and Fellowships to persuit my career. For me, it was not always a straight path to success at all. But with all of my heart and strengths, I have been always working very hard to achieve my goals. Therefore, I am very proud to list all my achievements here:
Award & Achievement
- Director's Prize Award from Slovak Technical University, 1984;
(Top student among 300 graduates in Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Slovak Technical University, Bratislava, Slovakia).
- Biography has been selected for inclusion in Marquis WHO is WHO in Science and Engineering, Millenium Edition, 2000.
- AWS Arsham Amirikian Memoral Maritime Welding Award for the best paper entitled "Analytical Solutions for Transient Temperature of Semi-Infinite Body Subjected to
3-D Moving Heat Sources" which was published in Welding Journal, August 1999

- Czechoslovakia’s Government Scholarship for Undergraduate Study at Slovak Technical University, Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, 1979-1984.
- Swiss Government SIDA-Scholarship for the master program at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), BKK, Thailand, 1990-91.
- Australian Government OPRS-Scholarship and The University of Adelaide Scholarship (UAS) for Postgraduate Research Study at The University of Adelaide, 1992-1995.
- Frank Perry Scholarship from Faculty of Engineering, The University of Adelaide, 1993-1994 (Award for Top Research Student in Engineering).
Fellowships
- Post-Doctoral Fellowship from an Australian Research Council (ARC) Research Grant for working on a research project entitled "Composite Steel and Concrete Plated Beams" at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The University of Adelaide from 12/1995 to 8/1997.
- Science and Technology Agency (STA) Post-doctoral Research Fellowship for young scientists to work at the National Research Institute for Metals, Tsukuba Science City of Japan on a research project entitled "The Effect of Residual Stresses on Fatigue Behaviour of Large Welded Structures" for two years, 1997-1999.
- Sydney University Postdoctoral Research Fellowship U2000 for joining CAMT to work under Prof. Mai for the next three year (2000-2003) on a proposed project
entitled: "Residual-Strength-Based Assessment Procedure for Remaining Life of the Welded Structures". Its a great honor to me to be able to win this very prestigous and competitive fellowship, especially, there was more than 280 applicants from all over the world
for only 15 available fellowships this year.
