Hi, it's me

Who Am I ?

I was born in Hanoi, Vietnam but have been living in many countries and speak many languages wherever I'd been such as to Czechoslovakia, Thailand, Australia and Japan. I've been to China, Mongolia, Russia, Hungary and USA, England, Italy, France & Belgium. Learning and Speaking foreign languages was and still one of my greatest passions, the second to Ball-room Dancing.

At present I work as research fellow at Dept. of Mech. & Mechatronic Eng., The University of Sydney . I spent most of my time carrying out the research on "Weld Pool simulation" and recently developed "Analytical solutions for 3D heat sources in Semi-Infinite Body, Finite-Plate, Infinite Circular Cylinder, Finite Cylinders and Hollow Cylinders" . I try to carry out the computer simulations and conduct experimental verifications of my recents solutions, then will publish them in the Welding Journals soon except for the first solution for semi-infinite body which has already been published in WJ research supplement, August, 1999 for which I have been awarded an "Arsham Amerikian Memoral Maritime Welding Award" by American Welding Society recently (see my photo albume No. 2). That's very first analytical solutions for the 3D heat sources I had developed during my two years STA (Science and Technology Agency) fellowship in Japan from 1997-1999 at the National Research Institute for Metals, Tsukuba-city.

I have been involved in design, research and teaching for over the last fifteen years. My previous positions were: Maintenance Engineer at Slovak Refinery SLOVNAFT Co., a senior mechanical designer at the MHE-Thailand Co. Ltd., lecturer at Hanoi University of Technology for over 4 years, post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Adelaide for two years.

My main areas of expertise are the Fatigue of Welded Structures, Fracture Mechanics, Stress analysis and Design, Cranes Design, Numerical and Experimental Modelling & Simulation, FEM, Heat Transfer in Welding Processes. Aside from that, I had been involved in Composite Steel & Concrete Construction and Soil Mechanics research.

I had been a winner of numbers of Prestigious Scholarships and Awards in pursuing my career. I have authored and co-authored more than 55 research papers & reports. My biography has been recently selected for publication in Who is Who in Science and Engineering, Millenium Edition, 2000.
