Chapter 23

It was dark by the time they even reached the halfway point in their journey to Maine. Simone pulled her knees to her chest as she gazed out the window and just watched the darkness and shadows fly by. They had already eaten their dinner about three hours ago at a small restaurant just off the highway; there was hardly anyone there. And with the few people that were there, they didn't even recognize them.

Suddenly, Simone remembered the small package that she had put in her pocket. It was still there and she smiled. She wasn't sure if it was going to happen tonight, or when it would be put to use, but she was ready and was determined that nothing was going to stop it from happening.

"So, how do you like the luxuries of being a rock star?" she heard Taylor ask from behind her, as he slowly wrapped his arms around her small waist. Chills ran up and down her spine, she loved the way it felt when he had his arms around her. She smiled and sighed, breathing in his scent.

"Well, so far I love it because I am with you." she said, not turning around to face him. She could feel him smiling and then she leaned her head back against his chest. It was about 9:30 and she didn't want to admit it, but she was getting a little bit sleepy. She closed her eyes and slowly but surely, she fell asleep.

When she opened her eyes again, she still felt Taylor's arms around her waist and his head resting against hers. She turned in her seated position to face him. He had fallen asleep, too. She smiled, then rested her head back on his chest and closed her eyes. She wondered where Zac and Isaac was and wondered why neither of them had interrupted their peaceful moment. She looked quickly at the clock on the wall. It read 2:49 am. She shook Taylor awake.

"Tay, wake up." she said. He slowly opened his eyes.

"Huh...wha?" he asked sleepily.

"It's almost 3:00 in the morning. We should go to bed. It'll be more comfortable." she said, pulling on his hand and him into a stand. Before they entered the hallway that housed all of the bunk cabins, Taylor enveloped Simone into a big hug and then he kissed her. Taylor climbed into the bunk above Simone's. 'If we have gone this long with out being disturbed, then we are going to have the rest of the night without any interruption' she thought. She climbed into Taylor's bunk behind him. He looked surprised to see her there, but he smiled anyway.

Taylor leaned over and kissed her. Simone responded to the kisses with just as much wanting and needing as Taylor was putting into them. Their kisses were long, heavy and defiantly thirsting for more. Every time Taylor's lips left hers, Simone hungered for the feel of them again. The round shaped packet in her back pocket felt as tho it was burning and she wanted to take it out and give it to Taylor. She never felt like this before, but it was the kind of never-felt-like-this-before that she wanted to feel again. Taylor reached under her shirt and began to pull it off. Simone stopped him from taking it off. She wanted to do this so badly, but it all seemed too odd to be doing in the tour bus. He felt the zipper on her shorts and began to pull it down.

"Taylor, I don't think we should do this." Simone said. Taylor eye's shone with disappointment and he even groaned with discomfort.

"I don't know if I am right when I say this, but I think that it's a lot easier for girls to turn back when you have gotten this far than it is for a guy." he said quietly.

"Maybe you're right, but Tay, think about it. Okay, we're in the tour bus, your brothers and dad are right across the hall, and these cabins aren't very sound proof." Simone said reasonably. Taylor nodded. "I mean, come on, in your bunk cabin? Well, maybe in mine, but not in yours."

Taylor laughed. "You're right. But I have to know this. Do you want to do this as much as I want to?"

"If not more." Simone answered, kissing his lips quickly before lowering herself into her own cabin. Taylor smiled at her answer and quickly fell asleep.

"If you're ever lonely, you can call on me. I'll be waiting for you, all you got to do is call. I'll be waiting here for you, all you got to do...is keep on tryin' 'til your call gets through."

With the combination of all the screaming girls, the instruments and their voices, it sounded totally awesome. Especially backstage. This has been the forth Hanson concert that Simone has been to, her second one backstage for the entire thing. She loved it backstage. There was always a table set up directly behind the main stage and she would sit on it so she could feel the vibrations of the instruments and sometimes even their voices. She laid back and closed her eyes, tapping her foot to the beat of the music. She was beginning to know what song would be coming up next and even all the words to all of the songs.

She was even confident enough that she knew most of the notes on the keyboards. With her piano lessons when she was little, and watching the guys practice all the time, she was sure that she knew if not all, but most of the songs off by heart, with no music in front of her. She would even consider herself as good as the back up keyboard player. She winced as she heard Zac's voice crack and then she smiled to herself. All the girls were cheering and screaming ever so loudly. Apparently, they liked the voice cracking.

After the concert was over, and everyone was back at the hotel, eating the pizza that was served after every show, Simone was sitting across the room from Taylor. They were exchanging flirty looks and loving glances. Taylor got up to get another piece of pizza. He was standing next to his body guard when the idea popped into his head.

"Hey Jason, can I talk to you for a minute?" Taylor asked his body guard. Jason looked down at him with a concerned look on his face. He was willing to listen.

"Sure Tay, what's up?"

"Well see, it's like this. Last night, Isaac and I had a huge argument. In fact, we were still really pissed at each other this morning, and even now. Do you think that you could swap rooms with me tonight? 'Cause we have the conjoined rooms, and I am so pissed off at him, I don't want to be that close to him." Taylor said, hoping that his face wouldn't give away the truth. Jason nodded.

"Sure, that will be ok. Anything to help you out. I wouldn't want you two to kill each other or something like that. I'll just go up to your room after I finish with the pizza, ok?"

"Thanks Jay, I owe you one." Taylor said, playfully punching Jason's arm. When he returned to the room where everyone else was, his eyes locked with Simone's. He smiled. Her eyes were questioning his, but he only smiled in return.

As everyone was leaving, Taylor pulled Simone aside. He cupped her chin in his hand then kissed her. Kissed her as passionately as he could. Simone held onto his hands and kissed him again. Zac walked past them, mid-kiss.

"Go get a room." he muttered over his shoulder. Simone laughed, but Taylor held a serious look on his face, even after Zac's comment.

"Tay, we've got to stop doing this. I mean, we're just teasing ourselves, getting all worked up, and then letting ourselves down, knowing that we can't be alone together." Simone said, pushing Taylor away.

"Sim, come here. I have a surprise for you." Taylor said, leading her to Jason's room. The door was unlocked and he opened the door. Then he turned on a light, revealing the totally empty room, king-size bed and everything.

"Tay, whose room is this?" she asked him.

"Ours." he said, then kissed her, pulling her inside the doorway. Simone smiled and then kicked and locked the door behind them.
