Random Husky Toughts, While sitting Around Waiting for the Next BC Alum to Commit a Felony.....

By: Rich Perillo

Here are some thoughts that came to me while I was sitting on the toilet reading a Sports Illustrated feature on what a great guy Kevin Stevens is.....

***Etch this in stone: BC will NEVER Beat BU in an important game. NEVER....
On Paper BC has the best team in Hockey East.
The Eagles come into the Beanpot Championship with a goalie, Scott Clemmensen, on three-game shutout streak. What does Dick York do? He plays the freshman Tim Kelleher. You all know what we think of Clemmensen, he's the worst good goalie around. But he still should have played. Great move Dick.
In reality, it didn't matter who Dick York played in net.
Because BC will always play second fiddle to BU.
Dick York can take all his blue chip recruits. Take all his NHL draft picks. Take all his Hobey Baker candidates. Take all his midget goal scorers(aka Brian "Hank the Angry Dwarf" Gionta). It doesn't matter.
BU will always win because they know how to win. They know when to be gritty. They know when to be tough. They also know when the other team is afraid. We like to say, "BU smells blood."
BC has no grit. BC has no toughness.
What really made my night was when they started a fight with a few minutes left and the outcome no longer in doubt. Typical BC-- Babies!!
What they are is a bunch of pampered, prima dona,  powder puff, pretty boy, prep school pussies. They collectively have balls the size of  a gerbil's(really small).

***I like this NU team. I like it a lot. They have very good goaltending. They have a great core of defensemen. They have very good two-way forwards. They have excellent team speed. And they play excellent team defense.
But the truth is the Huskies need to find a goal scorer for next season. If that player is going to come off the current roster, he will need to be dramatically improved.
The most obvious answer is Mike Ryan. While he hasn't had the impact we hoped for, Ryan has had flashes of brilliance. Hopefully, those flashes will be more consistent next year and he will make that quantum leap. He has the skills necessary to be a star in Hockey East.
Willie Levesque? Chris Lynch? Both have improved overall and I wouldn't trade them for anything but their growth hasn't shown on the scoring sheet.
Graig Mischler? Now near the end of his junior year, unless he pulls a Jay Heinbuck next year, he is a nice player but not a big scorer.

***Question: Who is BC alumni Kevin "Crackhead" Stevens' favorite WWF wrestler?
Answer: The Godfather, of course. It seems the accused felon likes to ride to Ho Train.

***My only regret with the Stevens arrest is that Flutie wasn't with him.

***Where are all the Jason Braun bashers this year? Braun has been excellent, as he was under adverse circumstances last year. Along with Mike Gilhooly, the Huskies have one of the best goalie tandems in the league. There is a healthy competition and they push each other in a positive way. To all you people who said he stunk, wanted to blame last year's disappointing record all on him and run him out of town, The Perillo Brothers' would like to say, "we told you so."  You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

***Has anyone seen the Federal Express Super Bowl commercial where the Fed X guy makes a delivery to the Wizard of OZ?
If you look closely you can see a familiar face in the background.
Yes, that is Doug Flutie with the rest of the Lollipop Kids. He's the littlest one.

***The Northeastern fans have been the best this year since the Huskies' heyday of the late 80's. They have been consistently there, loud, supportive and into the games. It's just a matter of time before Coach Crowder has the Huskies as a perennial national power and the Arena will be full every game.

***I've been very outspoken about the accommodations at the Arena this year and very critical of Mike "Deputy Dog" Winsor in particular. But I give credit when it is due. Since mid-season the ushers have done a better job of protecting the premium seat holders seats. Thanks, Dog.

***Former BU star and current channel 68 color commentator Mike Eruzione was in the news last week for having been investigated in connection with a bookmaking ring in Winthrop. Mike, your a BU not a BC alum. Leave the gambling and point shaving to the maggots at the Heights.

***Speaking of point shaving. Has anyone heard the news about convicted BC felons Rick Kuhn or Ernie Cobb.
We heard they were auditioning to play prison bitches on the critically acclaimed HBO hit series OZ. With their experience in the slammer I'm sure they are very qualified.

***If you listen to WEEI Sports Radio then you familiar with another BC moron, Fred Smerlas. To his credit, Smerlas is not a criminal like many of his fellow alum, but he is a walking advertisement against getting a BC education. He is a marble mouthed, stuttering, stammering nitwit who when he isn't spitting out sentence fragments, or butchering someone's name is expressing one dumb thought after another.
I also have a personal story about Fred. One of my friends went to Bentley College in Waltham. We used to play basketball up there quite a bit. Smerlas is from Waltham and in the off-season he also used to play hoops there. One day we were in a pickup game with Smerlas and my buddy blocked two or three of his shots. On the way up the court Fred bumps my friend and said, "if you know what's good for you, you won't do that again."
At the time my friend was 6'2" about 190lbs. and Smerlas was a Pro Bowl nose guard at 6'5" 300.
Fred Smerlas, my hero. Just another in a long line of BC Dickheads.

***The best of the rest BC Scumbags:
Bill Romanowski(football)--Spits on black guys. Gets fined weekly by NFL for vicious hits. Suspected steroid abuser.
Bob Sweeney(hockey)--Slashed former NU star Stew Emerson so hard on the knee once that Emerson needed surgery. The positve thing is the Stewie/Sweeney wars during their careers were worth the price of admission.
Jay Murphy(basketball)--Flunked out of school. Retained eligibility while in night school.
David Emma(hockey)--He really never did anything bad I just hated this little bug-eyed bastard.
Scott LeGrand(hockey)--Rumored to have been on the take when the Eagles lost to Alaska-Anchorage in the first round of the NCAA's in 1991. You remember that year. It was the year the Huskies finished last but beat BC in the first round of the Hockey East playoffs.
Chris Herren(basketball)--Or is it Heroin? Did irreparable damage to the basketball program, because he was let in against the better judgement of the administration. Didn't like going to class. Didn't like to be straight or sober. His failure at the school led to the rift between Jim O'Brien and the admissions department which ultimately led to O'Brien quitting.
The most frequent request for Herren at BC was, "pee into this cup."
