He chased the dragon away and stood over her, as if pondering. She stood and stared at the beast for a moment. It was a large horse with a silvery mane. But the peculiar thing about it were the two wings protruding from it's back. They were flexing slightly. The pegasus stomped his foot.
"Thank you, kind creature. I didn't think I was going to make it there, for a second", she said, not knowing what else to do.
Suddenly, a deep, strong voice spoke in her mind. ~*Thoust should be much more careful, if thou wanst to survive in these woods*~
She opened her mouth in surprise. "Did you just say something?"
The pegasus gave a horsey grin and snorted. ~*I am speaking to you with my mindspeak. Dost thou know yet of mindspeak?*~
She frowned. "Of course not. Is it dangerous?"
The pegasus threw his head back and whinnied, which is a pegasus's way of laughing. ~*Of course not, fair human. Unless one speaks to the foul-mouthed harpies. What is thine name?*~
Jessica did not want to lie to the strange beast. "My name is Jessica Lameux. And I'm not a human. I'm a werewolf." She said this last bit with some resentment.
The pegasus nodded. ~*Ah. I do smell the mark of the beast upon thou. Well, my name be Jazzarath, and I am a Pegasus. Thou may call me Jazz, though.*~
She smiled. "Nice to meet you, Jazz. You're not afraid of me?"
~*Of course not! I am much too wise to be afraid of the likes of thee. But thou shouldst be afraid of the forest creatures. Not all of them are as cordial as myself.*~
She looked around to see if the dragon was nearby. "I don't know what to do. I've never even seen half of the creatures around here..."
Jazz considered this. ~*I like thee, Jessica Lameux. Wouldst thou be willing to make a deal with me?*~
She thought about it for a moment, then came to the conclusion that Jazz wasn't going to hurt her. "Alright."
Jazz nodded and swished his tail. ~*Here is the deal-Iffin thou is ever in trouble and need my help, then thou should call my name three times. I shall be there to help thee. Thou's part of the deal is this: Iffin thou meets any vampyres in your travels around this land, thoust must tell me whenever thou sees me again.*~
It sounded like a fair deal to her. "Alright. It's a deal."
The pegasus flexed his wings. ~*Good. And iffin thou ever needs a ride, thou can call my name twice, and iffin I hear the call, I will oblige thee a ride, free of charge.*~
She smiled widely. "Wow! Thanks alot, Jazz!"
~*Don't mention it. Well, dear werewolf, I must be going. I will see thee in the forest from time to time, I'm sure. Iffin thou ever needs someone to talk to, come to the field nearby. I am found there quite a lot.*~
"Thank you again, Jazzarath!", she called as he flew away.
And that was the beginning of the friendship between Jessica and Jazzarath, the pegasus. With time, it has grown into an odd friendship indeed. Jessica was true to her word, but there were some details about his deal that Jazz forgot to mention. Now it seems that she's wraped up in a story, one that's been ongoing for nearly half a century in Arangoth. A story that could mean the end of Drache. Hopefully, things will work out for the best for all parties involved...(See the SL website for more info...)
