ACHIEVEMENT RIBBONS AND AWARDS FOR JROTC



NOTE: Below is a list of achievement ribbons and the criteria for earning each. The awards will be given to cadets as soon as they are earned or at an awards ceremony at the end of the school year. The order in which they are worn on the uniform is N-1, N-3, N-2, and N-4.


N-1-1: DISTINGUISHED CADET AWARD FOR SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE
CRITERIA:Awarded annually to one cadet who exhibits the highest degree of excellence in scholastics. (MUST HAVE A G.P.A OF 3.0 OR BETTER)

N-1-2: ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD
CRITERIA:Awarded annally to one cadet in each L.E.T. level for maintaining highest school academic grades. (MUST HAVE A G.P.A. OF 3.0 OR BETTER)

N-1-3: ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT RIBBON
CRITERIA:Award annually to those cadets who maintain a grade of "A" in all academic subjects for the entire school year.

N-1-4: PERFECT ATTENDANCE RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to cadets who have been awarded perfect attendance by the school

N-1-5: STUDENT GOVERNMENT RIBBON
CRITERIA:Must be elected to student government office.

N-1-6: LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to Cadets who successfully complete the first or last semester of ROTC training in each L.E.T. year.

N-1-7: NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
CRITERIA:Must be a member of the Natioal Honor Society

N-1-8: STUDENT ORGANIZATION OFFICER
CRITERIA:Must be elected officer of a school club or organization.

N-3-1: INSTRUCTOR LEADERSHIP RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded annually to one cadet per L.E.T. level who display the highest degree of leadership.

N-3-2: PERSONAL APPEARANCE RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded annually to cadets who have uniform inspection grades no lower than 85%.

N-3-3: PROFICIENCY RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded annually to those cadets, E-5 and above, who have demonstrated a high degree of leadership. Cadet must have a 2.0 academic average, and have been awarded the N-2-2 ribbons this school year.

N-3-4: DRIIL TEAM RIBBON
CRITERIA: Awarded annually to those cadets who have been members of the Driil Team for one year snd have competed in three or more drill meets during the year.

N-3-5: ORIENTEERING RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded annually to those cadets who are members of the Orieteering Team and who have competed in three or more meets during the year.

N-3-6: COLOR GUARD RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded annually to those cadets who are members of the Color Guard and have competed , or performed in six or more performances during the year.

N-3-7: RIFLE TEAM RIBBON
CRITERIAAwarded annually to those cadets who are members of the Rifle Team, competed in ten or more matches during teh year and have completed the shooting year.

N-3-8: ADVENTURE TRAINING RIBBON
CRITERIAAwarded to those cadets who take part in one or more exercises that the S.A.I. declares to be adventure training.

N-3-9: COMMENDATION RIBBON
CRITERIAAwarded to cadets whose performance of duty exceptionally exceeds that of a cadet of the same grade and experience. Cadets must have recived N-3-10, N-2-2, and N-3-2 in teh same year. The award must be recommended by the Army Instructor and approved by the S.A.I.

N-3-10: GOOD CONDUCT RIBBON
CRITERIAAwarded to the cadets who have demonstrated outstanding conduct throughtout the school year. Cadets must have received no more than three demerits in one year, have no school suspensions and must have been involved in the ROTC program for at least 2/3 of the school year.

N-3-11: SUMMER CAMP RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to cadets for Summer Camp participation.

N-3-12: BEST DRILLED SQUAD RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to members of the Best Drilled Squad.

N-3-13: BEST DRILLED PLATOON RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to members of the Best Drilled Platoon.

N-3-14: BEST COMPANY RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to members of the Company who scored the highest points in Squad/Platoon Drill, Cadet Challenge, and have teh greatest number of winners on the Cadet of the Month Board.

N-3-15: BEST DRESSED RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to a male and female ROTC I cadet who has maintained teh highest inspection score, above 85% for the year.

N-2-1: VARSITY ATHLETIC RIBBON
CRITERIA:Must have lettered in one of the school's varsity sports.

N-2-2: PHYSICAL FITNESS RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded annually to cadets who maintain excellent physical fitness. Male cadets must run one mile in 8:30 minutes or less: female cadets in 10:45 minutes or less.

N-2-3: ROTC ATHLETIC RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded annually to cadets who have successfully participated in the Cadet Challenge Program, competed in all six events during Cadet Challenge Day, and and averaged at least 50% during competition.

N-2-4: COMMUNITY SERVICE RIBBON
CRITERIA: Awarded annually to cadets who perform a minimum of ten (10) hours of community service.

N-4-1: PARADE RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to cadets who praticipated in three or more parades as a member of a performing element.

N-4-2: RECRUIRTING RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to cadets who are members of ROTC and who recruit at least one student who stays in the ROTC program for one semester.

N-4-3: CANNON CREW RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to members of the Cannon Crew.

N-4-4: FLAG DETAIL RIBBON
CRITERIA:Awarded to cadets who, on a regular basis, raise and lower the flag at school and are recommended by the C/CSM.

ACADEMIC WREATH
CRITERIA:Awarded to cadets who make straight A's on their report card in JROTC for each grading period or final average is an A.

MEDAL FOR HEROISM
CRITERIA:Cadets who perform an act of heroism that clearly sets the individual apart from fellow students or other persons in similar circumstances. The performance must have involved teh acceptance of danger of extraordinary responsiblities exemplifying praiseworhty fortitude and courage.

SUPERIOR CADET DECORATION
CRITERIA:Be in top 10% of his/her class in JROTC. Be in the top 50% of his/her class in school. Be recommended by SAI and Principal. Limited to one outstanding cadet in each L.E.T.

LEGION OF VALOR BRONZE CROSS FOR ACHIEVEMENT
CRITERIA:Must be a L.E.T 3 and meet teh same criteria as the Superior Cadet Decoration. Only one award to one out of 4,000 cadets each region.

SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVLOLUTION
CRITERIA:Be in good standing militarily and scholastically. Show a high degree of merit with respect to leadership. One per each school.

DAUGHTERS OF TEH AMERICAN REVOLUTION
CRITERIA:Be a senior in the top 25% of his/her class. Have demonstrated qualities of dependability and good character. Adherence to military discipline, leadership ability, and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of ROTC training.

AMERICAN LEGION AWARD (GENERAL MILITARY EXCELLENCE AWARD)
CRITERIA: Cadet must be in top 25% of his/her class and have demonstrated outstanding qualities in military leadership, discipline, character and citizenship.

AMERICAN LEGION AWARD (SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE AWARD)
CRITERIA:Cadet must be in the top 10% of his/her class in academic subjects; be in the top 25% of the JROTC class and haev demonstrated qualities of leadership and have actively participated in related student activities.

NATIONAL SOJOURNERS AWARD
CRITERIA:Be a L.E.T. 2 or 3 and in the top 25% of his/her class. Must have encouraged and demonstrated the ideals of Americanism, by deed or conduct or both.

U.S. ARMY RECRUITING COMMAND AWARD
CRITERIA: Be a L.E.T. 3 in the top 25% of his/her class. have demonstrated outstanding leadership traits and possesses the potential for assuming positions of increased responsibility.

VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
CRITERIA:Be a L.E.T. 3 or 4 who has performed exceptionally well in leadership positions and have participated in extracurricular activities which enhance the JROTC program.

RETIRED OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (MEDAL)
CRITERIA:Awared to a cadet who has demonstrated exceptional potential for military leadership.

RESERVE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (AWARD)
CRITERIA: Awarded to a L.E.T. 4 (plaque with cadet's name is kept in ROTC building) and L.E.T. 3 (medal) for outstanding leadership and for providing great service to the Army JROTC Program.

VETERANS ADMINISTRATION CERTIFICATE
CRITERIA:Awarded to cadets for volunteer work at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

PURPLE HEART ASSOCIATION (MEDAL)
CRITERIAAwarded to a L.E.T. 3 or 4 cadet who has demonstrated exceptional leadership akills and scholastic ability. Be in the top 25% of their class academically and be motivated to serving their country in te future.
