Character Creation/Developement

General Information

~ All PCs in EMERALD NIGHTS are created according to VtM start up rules. Please submit your Character Sheet, Bio and a record of Freebie Point expenditures at the same time.

~ Reference the White Wolf books listed here to guide your character creation. Additional Clan Books and other Supplements are essential to capture the true essence of the character you are developing.



~ It is strongly suggested you have ready access to Vampire the Masquerade (WW2300), The Vampire Players Guide (WW2206) and the supplement book specific to your character. If buying them is a problem check with your local game stores and see if they sell used copies ... they often do. These books are the foundation to understanding this gaming system and enjoying yourself.

~ All characters require a history overviewing their mortal lives, what led up to there embrace, and who/what they are now. Also please note the history of the EMERALD CITY and explain how it is your character came to be here currently.
A general rule of thumb is one (1) page of history per 100 years of (un)life. Also explain any merits or flaws you have taken and how they effect your character.


~ There is a limit of 1 active PC and one active NPC per MUN. This is to prevent a player from spreading themselves too thin and thus not being able to do justice to their character and its SL. It is recommended that you start and establish your main characater before you bring in a second.

~In regard to Secondary Abilities, the policy outlined on pp 37 of the
Players Guide WW 2206 has been adopted. When purchasing a Secondary Ability during Intial Character Creation each point spent buys 2 dots; if purchasing with Freebie Points each point spent buys 1 dot; when puchasing with Experience Points one dot costs Current Rating.


Merits and Flaws (Kine and Kindred)

~ A character is allowed a maximum of 7 points in flaws and merits.

~ The following merits/flaws are not allowed:
  • Iron Will
  • Luck
  • Charmed
  • Immortal (for mortals, of course)
  • Danger Sense
  • Anything the ST's see as creating a game imbalance


Kine

~ Mortal characters are fun to play and are a wonderful addition to any VtM game (and not just for breakfast anymore!) The more mortal characters in a game, the better the stories and the more "realistic" it is. In an attempt to attract more mortal characters EMERALD NIGHTS offers an incentive of an additional 10 freebie points at the time of Character Creation and an additional 5 experience points each month!

~ Start Ups:

~ All Numina must be explained in the Bio to be allowed.


Kindred

~ Any vampire embraced inside of the game will need to modify their CS using the VtM start up stats.

~ Start Ups:
  • Attributes: 7/5/3 (start with 1 dot in each)
  • Abilities: 13/9/5
  • Disciplines: 3
  • Backgrounds: 5
  • Virtues: 7 (start with 1 dot in each)
  • Freebies: 15


~ From the History of the EMERALD CITY, you can see this is not an elder chronicle. Therefore, the lowest Gen allowed to start a character is 9th.

~ All PCs may only buy up to 1 dot in Age at character creation.

~ Once a clan has grown to include 3 PCs, one (1) 8th Gen character can be added to that clan. That PC can up their AGE one dot to a 2 max.

~ Disciplines

• A maximum of level three is allowed at character creation.

• One non-clan discipline can be taken at the time of character creation and should be explained in your Bio. Also it must be at a lower level than your lowest in-clan discipline.

• Learning new non-clan disciplines is possible. Please get it cleared by a ST first. If it is being taught by and NPC a post about how you have aquired it is required.

• If it doesn't make sense for your character to have the discipline, or if it doesn't fit with your character it will not be approved.
