Characters with no clan, Caitiff, have no Clan Disciplines.
For them, all Disciplines cost the current rating x 6 to raise by one due
to their lack of specialization.

~A general rule, a vassal gets a cost break on the
actual Discipline of her first domitor's clan (so, while a Toreador may know
Dominate, it is not considered a clan Discipline for the purposes of experience
points). A revenant gets a cost break on the Discipline of her family, while
an independent gets a cost break on Potence, Celerity and Fortitude.
A vassal who leaves a vampire's service is treated as an independent from
that point on, while an independent who becomes Blood Bound to a dominator
is treated like a vassal. So, yes, it is possible for an enterprising player
to "min-max" this system- but the dire ramifications of dealing with the
Kindred in this fashion should make the point moot.

Experience Points
• Role Playing- 1 EXP/day is awarded. Talking OOC doesn't count as
role playing. You must be actively role playing to claim this.
• Posting- 1 EXP is awarded for every IC post. The post should be
a minimum of 10 lines and cannot be a cut and paste of a chat log....unless
the log completely edited and enhanced, since you have received EXPs for
the role playing already.
• Other-Keeping an online role playing game alive and well takes many
minds and much effort and cannot be done by just those who wear the label
of ST. Therefore the creators of EMERALD NIGHTS have provided opportunities
for players to greatly enhance the game as well as build their EXPs. The
following are examples of such opportunities:
Special Interests - WOD
Emerald Nights) has been established as both a general meeting place
for approved players and also as a location to host OPEN PLAY events. If
a player is interested in taking responsibility to "man" this room and welcome
visitors by providing general information about the game, giving out our
home page link
(Emerald
Nights, A Nocturnal War in the Street...) and offering an opportunity
for those interested to try out role playing, they will be awarded 2
extra EXPs for that nights play.
Additionally, if the "new recruit" actually joins the game an additional
5 points will be awarded to the player who "oriented" them. (see
recruitment)
Recruitment- if you are responsible for bringing a new player
into the game a 5 point bonus will be awarded to you AFTER the new
player has been approved and has played for 1 month.
Post Awards- the special quality of some posts and SLs are
obvious, both in the joy they bring to the reader and in their creativity
and enhancement to the game. A 1 to 5 EXP bonus will be awarded
to such exceptional posts/SLs.
Game Techs- many players have exceptional skills in a variety
of areas such as web page creation, combat referring, plot/scene/event creation,
etc. Whenever a player extends themselves in such a way toward the betterment
of the game they will be awarded bonus EXPs.
NPCs-often NPCs are needed to enhance a scene or a story line.
Flexible creative players who are willing to step out of their personal
characters for a time and play an NPC will be recognized by receiving EXPs.
These are just a few ways that a player can become more intimately involved
in shaping the game. The STs are always open to new suggestions and ideas
on how to make EMERALD NIGHTS more creative and enjoyable for everyone. And
thus, any additional PC involvement that enhances the game will be appropriately
recognized.
Facts, Inspirations and Nightmares (FINs)
This is primarily the domain of the STs and the method used to unfold and
mold the story of the EMERALD NIGHT. But for those clever players it is yet
another place where they can become involved in both directing the theme
and gaining EXPs.
FINs will be posted periodically and will provide IC information for you
to consider. It is to be taken as true and factual and in some way affecting
your character it will be up to you just how. You will need to reflect on
and take this FIN into account over the coming days of play and in some way
weave it into your SL either through a post or in your role playing. Occasionally
a FIN will be sent to one player or group of players specifically and will
be delineated as a Private Fin and to be used by them. Generally, however,
it will be information that will effect all of EMERALD NIGHTS. FINs will
be marked as such so you will know exactly which ST posts they are.
A FIN might be something as benign as a weather report or a newspaper article
about a drug bust or it may be something darker like a description of the
Hunger...the Beast within. Whenever a player responds to a FIN in a particularly
creative or noteworthy way they will be awarded EXPs. Please indicate it
thus (FIN) in a post or a log to bring it to the STs attention. Obviously
simply reading the newspaper article as in the above example would not be
sufficient to merit an EXP but writing about or playing out fighting off
a frenzy after you read the article because your drug lab was raided
would!
