BALI - by Dr. Zeus
When I read I can imagine that I am anywhere in the
world, with anyone I want to be with. My favorite
antique book is entitled, "Travels in the Congo", by
Andre' Gide. He wrote his first person account in the
early 1900's, of his day to day travels. I love explorer
texts, and first-person accounts of adventure!!! It's
hard to believe that at one time, different peoples were
a complete mystery to one another. There were so many
new races to meet, and aspects of culture, language, and
thought to share. Now, the communication boundaries between
nations, and various cultures are breaking down every day.
Soon, we'll all understand each other and be a real family!!!
At least, this is my highest hope.
In my living room, we keep our African artwork and little wooden animals. I like maps, jungle and desert scenes, and decorate in this motif.
Here I hold a small snuff container. I am seated on the floor behind my coffee table, which is glass-top, and verdegris sculpture. My coffee table is an elephant!
I have two elephant end tables also, with glass ovals on their backs to make-up the surface.
Sculptures of East Indian, Asian, and African Animals sit regally and playfully here and there. My curtains are a sort of mosquito netting type of thing. I particularly enjoy nautical/explorer items, such as barometers, spyglasses, ornate fountain pens, and wicker
jungle or island shack-type furniture. I love my Farnsworth black and white striped Bengal tiger print! Our environment needs to make us confortable enough to relax, so that we can write creatively. (I learned this from a lovely professor of Environmental Psychology, Dr. Steve Bitgood. It's proven an invaluable help to me this past 2 years, as I began writing fiction.)

I've loved playing chess since first grade! Imagination, logic and creativity are such valuable resources for a writer.
