Today I turn 30 - that's right the big THREE-OH! I haven't written an entry in a while, so I have lots to say. Here goes. . .

Last Tuesday and Friday I worked out with my personal trainer for an hour each day. I had an interview on Thursday. I figured what's the harm in looking at the opportunities there are out there for me. I am scheduled for a second interview next Tuesday. I am also waiting for another headhunter (recruiter) to schedule an interview for me at management consulting firm.

This past weekend I got the SHOCK of my life. I was complaining to my hubby last Friday that he never does anything special for my birthday and that I've always done special things for his birthday. The next night (Saturday) my husband and I were going to go to dinner with my brother and sister-in-law. Once we got to their house, I made a pit stop and found a Good Housekeeping magazine in the bathroom. Needless to say, I roosted on the potty and started reading an article. My brother knocks on the door (I think it was 5 minutes later) to make sure that I'm okay. I finally get out of the bathroom (the article was pretty good by the way) and am mulling about the front hallway.

All in all, it took me about 10 minutes to meander past the kitchen and even then I was looking in the wrong direction. I finally turned around and *SURPRISE*!!! About 20 of my friends and family showed up to my surprise 30th birthday bash. I don't think I've ever been so pleasantly surprised in my life!

So now I'm 30 - I should just get over it. Actually, there isn't anything for me to get over. It feels like I've been waiting a long time to be 30. Maybe now people will take me seriously although I doubt it. I think the thing that strikes me the most in turning 30 is how far I've come, the things I THOUGHT I would achieve, and the things that I've ACTUALLY achieved. My life really isn't that bad and it could be SO much worse.

So, if I had to hand out any words of "wisdom," it would be this. . .

1. Don't sweat the petty things (and they all pretty much are petty), but do pet the sweatty things. Just kidding - Don't sweat the petty things.

2. Be bold and courageous. When you look back on your life, you'll regret the things that you DIDN'T do more than the things that you did. (And, BOY do I ever - I'm not even that old).

3. Always say "please," "thank you," and "hi."

4. Every once in a while, it's not a bad thing to have a Hostess Twinkie.
