Maryrose M. Curtin, funeral home director

Mrs. Maryrose M. Curtin, 73, of 532 Main St., director of the Murphy-Curtin Funeral Home and former nurse in the Haverhill public school system, died Wednesday at Hale Hospital.

She leaves her husband Timothy Francis Curtin among her survivors.

Mrs. Curtin was born in Haverhill, Nov, 18, 1905, son of the late Jeremiah M. and Ella (Brindle) Buckley.

She was graduated from the former St. James High School; St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing Brighton and New England Institute, Boston.

Mrs. Curtin served as school nurse for the City of Haverhill from 1935 until 1946 and later as clinic nurse for the Haverhill Health Department. She was associated with the state Department of Public Health Division of Epidemiology. Mrs. Curtin was a registered nurse, funeral director and embalmer.

She was a member of St. James Parish and the National Funeral Directors Association as well as the association’s New England and Massachusetts branches.

Mrs. Curtin was also a member of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Alumni Association and Sisters of St. Joseph Convent Association.

Besides her husband, Timothy F. Curtin, she leaves a daughter, Elinor F. Curtin, Haverhill; three brothers, Edwin A. Buckley and Milton D. Buckley, both of Haverhill, and Delwin R. Buckley, Lawrence; a sister Mrs. Frank D. (Antoinette) Clohecy, Merrimac, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from Murphy-Curtin Funeral Home, 532 Main St., with a funeral Mass at 10 in St. James Church.

Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.

Calling hours in the funeral home are today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 20 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
