Should Queen Elizabeth II of England, for example in a moment of fury - perhaps because a member of her family (Prince Charles, or even someone else) is in some way compromised or embarrassed - assassinate, or arrange an assassination, she could not be arrested in the United Kingdom, could not be charged with the crime of murder or conspiracy to murder, could not be tried in any Court of Law in Great Britain, and of course, because of the aforementioned, could not be found guilty and convicted of murder in Great Britain.
If, Great Britain were to become a republic, then this situation could be resolved and an ex-monarch could be arrested, charged, tried, and convicted for murder.
Republicans, who since the untimely 'accident' of Princess Diana, have increased dramatically in number, would dearly love to see the day when no one could be immune from arrest and trial for any crimes which they may have committed.
