A senior source revealed that the Queen will not travel to Althrop in Northamptonshire for Diana's interment at the Spencer family vault. (Evening Standard -03/09/97) (i.e., a Buckingham Palace flunky who says what the Queen tells him/her to say)

"The Queen will be leaving straight away from Westminster Abbey. Arrangements have been made for her to fly back to Balmoral from R.A.F. Northholt." (her holiday home in Scotland)

The Palace did not elaborate and reveal that she had not been invited to the Spencer family estate at Althrop. only those invited by the Spencer family were allowed to attend the final interment.

Dame Barbara warns Royals

Public grief for Diana would not boost the Royal Family's fortunes, Dame Barbara Cartland warned today. The novelist, Diana's step-grandmother, told Italy's La Repubblica: "Forget the monarchy. This Royal Family, let's not forget, is a family of Germans. The Princess of Wales was English, but not them. No, it's she whom we'll all miss." (Evening Standard -03/09/97)

Gadaffy's 'assassination' claims

The Libyan leader accused the British Government of assassinating the Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed because, he said, it did not want her to marry a Muslim.

He said "It (Britain) has committed a crime and executed an Arab citizen who wanted to marry an English princess. It staged the accident with the help of the French security services." (Evening Standard -03/09/97)

These claims were also published in Egyptian newspapers.

"Sinn Fein recognises the terrible tragedy for all of the families of all the bereaved."

Gerry Adams (president of Sinn Fein - the political branch of the IRA) said that H.R.H. Princess Diana had shown sympathy for people who were suffering and in need. "We as individuals appreciate Diana's work and the compassion she has shown over the years for people who were marginalised."

Only one thing jarred: Diana's coffin was covered with the Royal Standard, not the Union Flag. In death, the House of Windsor is eager to claim her; in life it had already frozen her out with a staggering mean-mindedness best seen in the stripping of her HRH style and the official removal of her name from the prayers said daily for the Royal Family by the Church of England. A statement regarding a much published photograph of Prince Charles and his sons harry and William on their was to Crathie Church on 31st August, just a few hours after the 'accident' which took the life of Princess Diana.

"The Times, every national newspaper except for The Sun and The Daily Telegraph, and the BBC found no problem with the photographs taken of the prince of Wales driving with his sons to church on Sunday morning. Perhaps we were wrong, even though the second reaction to the news from Paris was anguish for the Princess's sons. The readers who phoned in to complain though so.

Yet this was a photo opportunity arranged with the Palace (Buckingham) and organised by Grampian police, advised by Scotland Yard's Royal Protection Unit. Special barriers had been erected for photographers and they were advised not only that the two princes would be attending church but also that there would be more than one car.

Readers often complain because they consider that the press harasses the Royal Family. On this occasion they were invited do do so. So who was wrong - us for using the picture or those who organised the opportunity to do so? (Brian MacArthur - The Times p22 - 03/09/97)

Note to the above extract: This photo opportunity was deliberately arranged by Prince Charles who was obviously angry and still jealous of the fact that Princess Diana, even in death, was still getting more attention from the people that he was.
