THE PRINCESS STORY

CHAPTER 1: THE STORY OF THE PRINCESS

Once upon a time, There lived a princess .. living in a land so far, far away. Farther than ever thought conceivable by man. A tiny island they called Temasek....

The princess was well known in the land for her long, dark tumbling curls.

Eyes as darkest as the night sky itself...

Skin, the slightest tint of mahogany...the envy of all the other maidens.

The princess had it good.

Although Temasek was a busy and densely populated island, the Princess was allowed to inhabit Pasir Ris.

A once forgotten and peaceful eastern haven of the island.

The Princess was given a beautiful castle, overseeing a wide blue ocean and light trails of green forest.

Every day, the Princess would stand by her window and watch the eagles fly high and free.

Every night, the Princess would stand by her window and wished she knew what was beyond those dark blue seas.

So much so that, when she turned twenty, the Princess had made up her mind.

She confronted the King..

"Your Highness, I have made up my mind to follow the way of the eagles, I so often see and I'd like to travel past those seven seas."

After much denial on his part, the King finally gave in when he realised that the stubborn Princess had truly made up her mind.

And there was absolutely nothing he could do to prevent her departure from D' Castle.

"On one condition my lil' Princess, you would have to constantly send news to the Queen, your younger sister and me."

The Princess was in such high spirits and so she quickly made plans for her departure.

Yet she failed to notice Sadness that was looming D' Castle due to her decision to leave.

Chapter 2: TEARS DROWN THE ISLAND

The day came for the Princess to go. But she felt not like it.

"This place, she thought...here's where the eagles fly....
The seas, its all here in which I can see.
This island... bustling but still a home to me.
My family.. and all my friends, all I took for granted...how could I leave them be?"

The Princess was overcome with emotions she had never felt before.
And soon realised it as SADNESS, itself, creeping into her soul slowly.

But the stubborn Princess had too much pride to let mere emotions get in her way and so was set to go.

Suffice to say, tears drowned the little island when the Princess left.

CHAPTER 3: THE NEW WORLD

The Princess arrived in the New World a different person.

Her black curly locks made way for a reddish short bob.
Her dark eyes now reflects the colour of the light blue ocean she once knew.

The only dark thing left on her was her constant attire of black outfits....

She felt happy.
She felt free.
She had finally savoured the taste of freedom.

"Here I am in a city like London.. away from where I have been.. so this is what's beyond those calm blue seas......."

The new world treated the Princess well. ... much better than she had ever anticipated.

She made acquaintances studying of Trade and Merchants in her University.

She met the People of Foreign Lands and learnt about their cultures and their languages.

She soon became well versed in dealing with differing personalities.

The Princess also soon gathered admirers..

Some of whom became her good friends and others who just cherished her from a far.

Who ever He was, the Princess made sure she is always polite, as that was the trait she was brought up with.

But despite this, the Princess could never find true love and her prince.

Yet it does not seem to matter to her as she had a dozen of faithful companions to liven up all her days.

So she settled to live a life swinging single and carefree.

The Princess also discovered a lifestyle different from the one she had before.

In the new world, the Princess was able to go to places she never thought possible.

Meet people she never dreamt she could meet and best of all, had no one to answer to.

The Princess felt that she was truly happy.

CHAPTER 4: DAWN OF REALIZATION

But then spring came.

D' Princess found herself alone.

Her countless friends were gone... back in their homelands...

And her slight lack of interest, have left her admirers disheartened.

The Princess was faced with the prospect of being accompanied by herself, on her twenty first birthday.

That day soon came and the Princess could only cry.

Sadness began to engulf her.

"Was I truly happy here?" she asked.

Then it hit her.
It dawned on her realization.

"No one's here for me. What I have done and the relations I have formed are mere superficiality.
'Tis is strange how friends are only here when I am happy and then gone when I am sad."

She was not contented in her island.
She was restless.

She was not happy in this new world.
She was sad.

"Wherever I am," she realized, "Whatever I do..I can never be truly satisfied.
But at least I have seen this world.
And oh! What a world!
So different but yet so lonely.
I am partially contented though, and that's a good thing to be."

The Princess packed her bags and set sail to the seas.

Now with a determination to fully understand and truly embrace the Old World that she had once turned her back against.

It seems like an eternity had passed and soon the Princess found herself amidst the tranquility and familiarity of Her Deep Blue Seas.

A slow smile soon formed on the pink glossed lips of the Princess as she saw Her Eagles flying high and free.
