Club Logo Description
An upright anchor with top ring and  left and right hook.  Rope running zig zag from top right going downwards and ending at the left hook. The anchor which is part of a ship symbolizes the rich history of Malacca which is closely related as the trading port during the 14th & 15th century where early traders and conquerors from around the world travel by ship to Malacca for spice trade and conquest.

The club name “Laksamana” in the Malay language means Admiral, the highest ranking Naval officer which closely links Malacca with its association to trading ships and sea travel. The four rows of lining on the horizontal top bar denotes the multi racial population of Malaysia, the Malays, Chinese, Indians and others. The rope along the anchor symbolizes the strong bond of friendship and relationship of multi racial holds.

The colours Gold and Dark Blue used are colours of Rotary International logo, the gear.

Report of District Governor's Special Representative, PP RTN Tay Loo Wee

Through the enthusiasm of President Latip Saruggi of the Rotary Club of Kota Melaka and President Yeap Siew Haw of the Rotary Club of Malacca and a number of Rotarians from both clubs, a move was made this year to look into the formation of a new Rotary club to cater for ladies, Ex-Rotaractors and other middle management executives who would not otherwise, for one reason or another, be able to join the existing two Rotary clubs in Malacca.
With the consent of the two existing clubs to share their territory, an Extension Committee was formed consisting of the presidents and secretaries of the two clubs under the leadership of the DGGR PP Tay Loo Wee.  The Extension formally notified District Governor Fong Hoe Beng and he appointed PP Tay Loo Wee as the District Governor's Special Representative for the formation of the proposed club.
The Extension Committee agreed on the proposed name of Rotary Club of Kota Laksamana Malacca.
Kota Laksamana is a new business cum residential area in the growing historical city of Malacca.  The word "Laksamana" means "admiral" in the national language alluding to the history of Malacca when it was a major business centre and trading port.  The word "kota" means a "fortified place" in the national language alluding to the historical fort of Malacca and linking the club with its joint-sponsor, The Rotary Club of Kota Melaka.  The word "Malacca" is the international spelling for the historical city of Malacca and alludes to the club's link to its other joint-sponsor, The Rotary Club of Malacca.
The Extension Committee convened three interest meetings on Thursdays February 5, 12 & 19 at the meeting of the new Malacca Rotary Resource Centre at Wisma GKH.  These meetings were attended by potential members and supported by representatives from the two sponsoring Rotary Clubs.
At the final Interest Meeting held on Thursday February 19, a decision was taken to form the club as we were able to confirm the minimum requirement of twenty members would be met.  Membership forms were circulated, completed and the RI Admission fee of US$15 per person was collected.  An Inaugural Meeting of the provisional Rotary club was held to pass the various resolutions which are required for the formation of the club.  Club officers were elected for the period ending June 30 1999.
