James Henry Womack was born February 09, 1840 in Sugar Creek, Sagamon Co.,Illinois, and died May 21, 1926 in Platteville, Grant Co., Wisconsin. He married Harriet Mariah Gregory May 30, 1863 in Platteville, Grant Co., Wisconsin. She was born December 15, 1845 in Platteville, Wisconsin, and died August 29, 1930. James Henry Womack served in the Civil War. Went in as a substitution for John McLnane. Co. "A" 12th Regiment. Wisconsin Infantry, priv. Enlisted at Mineral Point, Wisconsin, October 13, 1864 went to Madison, Wisconsin, October 25, 1864. Occupation, miner, 24 years old. Height 5'6 1/2" hazel eyes, dark complexion, brown hair. Marched through Georgia. Muster out July 16, 1865, Louisville, Kentucky. Received a military pension from the Government. Information received from the National Archives Records, Washington, D.C.
