     *John Cox, born 25 June 1845, Perry, Wayne Co., Indiana, married twice. He married firstly to Emily M. Abandville James on 27 July 1867, Boone Co., Iowa. Emily was born on 25 March 1850 West Point Twp., Stephenson Co., Illinois, the daughter of John Anderson James and Elizabeth A. Tumbleson. They were listed in the 1870 Dodge, Boone Co., Iowa Census, and the 1880 Timber Creek, Marshall Co., Iowa Census records. Emily died after 1880 and is buried in the Center School Cemetery, Marshalltown, Marshall Co., Iowa (Note: I have searched the cemetery, and there is no sign of a headstone for Emily). Their children were:

1. Ida A. Cox, born 1868, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa. She was listed in the 1870 Dodge, Boone Co., Iowa Census and 1880 Timber Creek, Marshall Co., Iowa Census records.

2. Elizabeth Cox, born Aug 1869, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa. She was listed in the 1870 Dodge, Boone Co., Iowa Census records. (Note: Birthday on Census states Elizabeth was born in Aug 1870)

3. Ada Jane Cox, born 31 May 1870, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa, married William Preston Rose on 11 September 1877, Boone Co., Iowa. William was born on 18 January 1866, Coal Valley, Marcy Twp., Boone Co., Iowa, the son of Ezekiah Rose and Margaret Teets. They were listed in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Marcy Twp., Boone Co., Iowa Census. William died on 30 Jan 1937. Ada was listed in the 1940 Boone, Boone Co., Iowa Census records. She died in February 1946. They are buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa. Their children were:

     a. Emma Ecile Rose, born on 11 Jan 1891, Marcy Twp., Boone Co., IA, She married John Pestotnik on 17 Apr 1912, Boone, Boone Co., IA. John was born on 22 Jan 1890, Van Meter Twp., Dallas Co., IA, the son of Martin Pestotnik and Maria Paier. Emma died in 1985 and John died on 23 Dec 1958. They are buried in the Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., IA. Children: James and Jane Pestotnik.

     b. William Clyde Rose, born 15 Nov 1895. Marcy Twp., Boone Co., IA, married Mamie Elizabeth Hardie on 14 Apr 1920, Crawford Co., IA. Mamie was born on 28 Jun 1900, Yell Twp., Boone Co., IA, the daughter of William G. Hardie and Edith Batt. William died on 06 Sep 1966 and is buried in the Boone Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., IA. Mamie remarried and died in 1982. Children: Marvin, Helen, and Eugene Rose.

     c. Harold Ezekial Rose, born on 27 May 1897, Marcy Twp., Boone Co., IA, married Ethel May Hardie on 06 Dec 1924, Boone, Boone Co., IA. Ethel was born on 01 Feb 1903, Boone Co., IA, the daughter of William G. Hardie and Edith Batt. Harold died in Aug 1970 and Ethel died on 06 Oct 1995. Children: Deloris Rose.

4. George F. Cox, born 1873, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa.

5. Charles Edward Cox, born on 09 March 1873, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa, married Henrietta Maria "Etta" Washburn on 28 May 1904, Redwood Co., Minnesota. Etta was born on 08 Oct 1884, Warsaw Twp., Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota, the daughter of Norton Washburn and Rachel Swartz. They were listed in the 1910 Beltrami, Minnesota Census, the 1920 Redwood Co., Minnesota Census, the 1930 Maple Lake, Wright Co., Minnesota Census, the 1940 Fair Haven Twp., Stearns Co., Minnesota Census, and the 1950 Redwood Co., Minnesota Census records. Charles died on 12 August 1950 and Etta died on 09 November 1951. Their children were:

     a. Myrtle Minerva Cox, born on 07 Jul 1909, Redwood Co., MN, died on 29 Apr 1972. She is buried in the Redwood Falls Cemetery, Redwood Falls, Redwood Co., MN.

     b. Hazel Mae Cox, born on 29 Jul 1912, Redwood Co., MN, married Frank George Fox on 24 Jun 1931, Wright Co., MN. Frank was born on 28 Aug 1900, Stearns Co., MN. the son of Paul Fox and Dorothea Filbert. Hazel died on 29 Mar 1989 and Frank died on 11 Oct 1969. Children: Robert Frank Fox.

     c. Charles Clifford Cox, born on 18 Mar 1915, Boone Co., IA, died 28 Mary 1915, Yell Twp., Boone Co., IA.

     d. Leonard Cox, born on 02 Apr 1917, Redwood Co., MN. He died 13 May 1923 and is buried in the Faribault Regional Center West Cemetery, Walcott, Rice Co., MN.

6. *Frederick Sylvester Cox, (See 6th Generation), born 15 April 1876, Marshall Co., Iowa.

7. Zenas J. Cox, born in 1878, Iowa. He was listed in the 1880 Timber Creek, Marshall Co., Iowa Census records.

8. Thomas Ellsworth Cox, born in 22 January 1881, Marshall Co., Iowa, married twice. He married firstly to Pearl Zelda McClain on 22 July 1903, Ogden, Boone Co., Iowa. Pearl was born on 01 December 1886, Woodward, Dallas Co., Iowa, the daughter of John McClain and Georgia Todd. They were listed in the Yell Twp., Boone Co., Iowa Census. Pearl died on 27 March 1915. Three of their children children were adopted. Their children were:

     a. Elsie M. Cox, born in 28 Jun 1905, Boone Co., IA, married three times. She married firstly to Herman Langfeldt on 17 Nov 1923, Davenport, Scott Co., IA. Herman was born on 08 May 1900, Davenport, IA, the son of Wilhelm and Eliese Langfeldt. They divorced. Elsie married secondly to Walter Dewey Meckel in 1927. Walter was born on 15 Jul 1898, Davenport, IA, the son of Louis Meckel and Helen Koch. Children: Dorothy Ellen and Donald Meckel. Elsie married lastly to Martin W. Reemts on 19 Jan 1946, Galesburg. Martin was born on 28 Jun 1907, Lyon Co., IA, the son of William M. Reemts and Abigail Siebrands. Elsie died on 15 Jul 1953 and is buried in the Moline Memorial Park, Moline, Rock Co., IL.

     b. Bertha Esther Cox/Estyr Lanrie Frey, born in 03 May 1907, Boone Co., IA (Adopted by Charles and Allie Frey), married Edwin Lynn Tucker. Edwin was born on 05 Nov 1905, NE, the son of John Tucker and Jennie Richards. Bertha/Estyr died in Jul 1972. Edwin remarried and died on 25 Aug 1986. Bertha and Edwin are buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Omaha, Douglas Co., NE.

     c. Floyd Charley Cox/Frey, born in 27 Mar 1909, Boone Co., IA (Adopted by Charles and Allie Frey), married Jeannette Roberson. Jeannette was born on 29 Oct 1912, Douglas Co., NE, the daughter of Horace Roberson and Marguret Meline. Floyd died 05 May 1977 and Jeannette died on 19 Nov 1997. They are buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha, Douglas Co., NE. Children: Charles E., William E. and Alene Frey.

     d. John Edward Cox, born on 27 Mar 1911, Boone Co., IA. John died on 27 Nov 1912. He is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., IA.

     e. Vera Adeline Cox/Carpenter, born on 15 Jun 1913, Boone Co., IA, married Thomas Leo Burke on 27 May 1930, Sacred Heart Church, Boone, Boone Co., IA. Thomas was born on 26 Jul 1900, Ogden, Boone Co., IA, the son of Patrick Burke and Catherine Finnane. Vera died on 21 Mar 1957 and Thomas died on 09 Sep 1989. They are buried in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., IA. Children: John and Shirley Burke.

     f. Eliene Pearl Cox/Morrissey, born on 20 Mar 1915, Luther, Boone Co., IA. Eliene died on 18 Apr 1921. She is buried in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., IA.

    Thomas married secondly to Hannah Hanson. Hannah was previously married to Jasper Jepson. Hannah was born on 10 March 1882, Germany, the daughter of Christopher Hanson and Mary Mueller. They were listed in the 1930 and 1940 Whiteside Co., Illinois Census records. Thomas died in 1943 and is buried in the Fenton Cemetery, Fenton, Whiteside Co., IL. Their children were:

     g. Thomas LeRoy Cox, born on 28 Jan 1925, Scott Co., IA, married Katherine Marie Stutler. Katherine was born on 06 Dec 1925, Jersey Co., IL, the daughter of Robert Stutler and Florence Cain. Thomas died on 16 Mar 2010 and Katherine died on 10 Feb 2015. They are buried in the Fulton Twp. Cemetery, Fulton, Whiteside Co., IL. Children:

     h. Mabel Virginia Cox, born on 22 Aug 1921, Scott Co., IA, married twice. She married firstly to Emery J. Bush on 18 Feb 1942 . Emery was born on 14 Jun 1920, Fenton, Whiteside Co., IL, the son of Simon Bush and Margaret Pessman. Emery died on 25 Oct 1976 and is buried in the Burlington Cemetery, Burlington, Racine Co., WI. Mabel married secondly on 19 Feb 1980, Racine, WI. Mabel died on 20 Feb 2000.

     John married secondly to Margaret Teets on 04 April 1886, Bass Point, Boone Co., Iowa. Margaret was born on 04 April 1847, Logan Co., Ohio, the daughter of Stephen Teets and Sarah McMullen. She was married previously to Ezekial Rose. John died on 30 September 1899. Margaret remarried. John is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa.

     *Frederick Sylvester "Fred" Cox born 15 April 1876, Marshall Co., Iowa, married Fannie McGee on 26 August 1906, Congregational Church, Ogden, Boone Co., Iowa. Fanny was previously married to Frank Samuel Lowry. She had a daughter Mary Ardeth Lowry. Fanny was born on 06 August 1872, Moingona, Boone Co., Iowa, the daughter of Richard James McGee and Mary Elizabeth Murdock. They were listed in the 1910 Yell, Boone Co., Iowa Census, and the 1920 Marcy Twp., Boone Co., Iowa Census records. Fred died on 21 January 1929 and Fannie died on 11 February 1920. They are buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa. Their children were:

1. John Myron Cox, born 15 June 1904, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa. He was listed in the 1910 Yell, Boone Co., Iowa Census, the 1920 Marcy Twp., Boone Co., Iowa Census, the 1930 Pleasant Valley, Webster Co., Iowa Census, and the 1940 Yell, Boone Co., Iowa Census records. He died on 30 May 1965, Dade Co., Georgia.

2. Beatrice "Bea" Cox, born 07 October 1908, Polk City, Polk Co, Iowa. Bea was born Beatrix R. Cox, but she changed her name to Beatrice. She married Rannold Oakwine "Barney" Kelley on 09 May 1929, . Barney was born on 09 February 1906, Webster City, Hamilton Co., Iowa, the son of Delbert Kelley and Clara Vanderventer. They were listed in the Pleasant Valley, Webster Co., Iowa Census, and the 1940 and 1950 Boone, Boone Co., Iowa Census records. Bea died on 22 May 1973 and Barney died in May 1986. They are buried in the Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa.

3. Frederick Ernest "Fred" Cox, born 30 November 1911, Yell Twp., Boone Co., Iowa, married Dorothy Ellen Staley. Dorothy was born on 13 December 1916, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa, the daughter of Harry Edgar Staley and Tena Irene Miller. They were listed in the 1940 Grant, Greene Co., Iowa Census, and the 1950 Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa Census records. Fred died on 01 July 1986 and Dorothy died on 16 May 1996.

4. Woodrow Donald "Woody" Cox, born 07 October 1908, Polk City, Polk Co, Iowa. Woody was born Woodrow Wilson Cox, but he changed his middle name to Donald. He married Alice Bernice Staley on 15 December 1934, Nevada, Story Co., Iowa. Alice was born on 15 June 1918, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa, the daughter of Harry Edgar Staley and Tena Irene Miller. They were listed in the 1940 and 1950 Boone, Boone Co., Iowa Census records. They are buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa.

5. Leslie Cox, born 26 September 1914, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa. He was listed in the 1920 Marcy Twp., Boone Co., Iowa Census, the 1930 Des Moines, Boone Co., Iowa Census, and the 1940 Grant, Greene Co., Iowa Census records. Leslie died on 26 October 1943 in WWII in Italy. He does have a headstone though at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa.
