Descendants of David Parks

     *David Parks was born 19 July 1775, in Maryland (1850 Census states Maryland), the possible son of Samuel Parks?. David married Catherine _____ (Note: some researchers state Catherine Case, however, that couple married in 1802 in Virginia). Catherine was born in 1775, also in Maryland. Their family migrated to Ohio. The 1800 Ohio Census Records were burned by the British in the War of 1812, so it is hard to find any information. A brief history of Ohio and the counties our family were in is needed I believe. David and his family were 1st listed in the 1803 Newton, Washington Co., Ohio Census Records. Note: A part of Washington Co., Ohio split into Muskingum Co. in 1804, and then into Coshocton Co. in 1811. David and his family are then in 1820 Washington Twp., Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, pg. 50 with 1 male under 10, 1 male 10-16, 1 male 18-26 (Joseph), 1 male 45 +, 4 females under 10, 1 female 10-16, 1 female 16-18, 1 female 18-26 (Jane Richcreek Parks), and 1 female 26-45, Note: Since I have been unable to find Joseph and Jane in the Census Records (married July 1820), and the census was taken in August 1820, I believe two of these children were Joseph and Jane, the 1830 Virginia Twp., Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, pg. 11, with 1 male 15-20, 1 male 50-60, 2 females 10-15, 2 females 15-20, and 1 female 50-60, the 1840 Virginia Twp., Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, pg. 358 with 1 male 60-70, 2 females 20-30, and 1 female 50-60. They were also listed in the 1850 Virginia Twp., Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, pg. 117. David died on 01 May 1866 and is buried in the Fivecoats Cemetery, Coshocton Co., Ohio. He left a Will dated 06 Jul 1861, and produced in court on 20 Jul 1866. In his will he mentions his children, Joseph and William Parks, and his daughters; Mary Fivecoats, Sarah Musgrove, Elizabeth Squire, Deborah Squire, and Catherine McCloy. Children of David and Catherine are listed below::

1.  Joseph Parks, (See 2nd Generation), born 01 Jan 1799 in Newton Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.

2.  Mary Anna Parks, b: ca 1802, Ohio, married Michael Fivecoat on 03 Apr 1821 in Coshocton Co., Ohio. Michael was born ca 1801 in Virginia, possibly the son of Henry and Rachel Fivecoat. Their family was listed in the 1830 Virginia, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census with 1 male under 5, 1 male 20 to 29, 2 females under 5, 1 female 5 to 9, and 1 female 20-29, the 1840 Virginia, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census that may be this family, but the dates for him are off, which is not unusual. He had 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-9, 1 male 10-14, 2 males 15-19, 1 male 50 to 59, 2 females under 5, 2 females 5 to 9, and 1 female 40-49, the 1860 Mitcheltree, Martin Co., Indiana Census. Mary probably died after that Census was taken as Michael was listed in the 1870 Widner, Knox Co., Indiana Census living with his daughter Mary Hardesty's family. Children that I have are:

     a. Mary Ann Fivecoat, b: 1822, Coshocton, OH, married James M. Hardesty on 14 Mar 1844, Coshcocton Co., OH. James b: 08 Feb 1816, Coshocton Co., OH, the son of John Hardesty and Mary Wolford. Mary d: and James d: 27 Feb 1914. Children: John W., Sarah E., David E., Jane M., Mary E., James M., Ann, and Llewella Hardesty.

     b. Alexander Fivecoat, b: 06 Mar 1827, Coshocton, OH. Alexander d: 15 Jan 1831, bur: Fivecoat-Parks Cemetery, Virginia Twp., Coshocton Co., OH (findagrave).

     c. Jane Fivecoat, b: 1830, Coshocton, OH, married Elias Fairall on 02 Dec 1852, Coshocton Co., OH. Elias b: 08 Aug 1833, OH, the son of William Fairall and Nancy Clark. Jane d: 1868 and Elias married secondly to Anna Jane Adams. Jane and Elias' children: Mary Elizabeth, William Holden, Howard Lee, Isabelle Dorothia, and Edgar E. Fairall.

     d. Daughter, b: 1835-1840 (Per 1830 Census), Coshocton, OH.

     e. Henry Parks, b: 01 Mar 1833, Coshocton, OH, married Nancy Jane Long on 17 Apr 1855, Martin Co., IN. Nancy b: 10 Jun 1836, Lawrence Co., IN, the daughter of Abraham Long and Susan Hixon, d: 24 Sep 1869, and is buried in the Sandborn Cemetery, Knox Co., IN. Children: Charles William, Mary Susan, Mariah Elizabeth, Abraham Elsworth and James Franklin Parks.

     f. David P. Fivecoat, b: 29 Jul 1836, Coshocton, OH, married Susannah Pennington on 02 Jun 1854, Coshocton Co., OH. Susannah b: 01 Apr 1836, OH, the daughter of Daniel Pennington and Susannah Marshall. David d: 06 Feb 1919 and Susannah d: 26 Jun 1915. Children: Joseph, Laura Ellen, and Alonzo Fivecoat.

     g. Joseph P. Fivecoat, 16 Mar 1839, Coshocton, OH, married Jane L. "Jennie" Dryden on 18 Apr 1863, Owen Co., IN. Jennie b: in 1845 in Indiana, the daughter of Joseph B. Dryden. Their family was listed in the 1870 and 1880 Posey, Clay Co., Indiana Census, the 1910 and 1920 Perry, Marion Co., Indiana Census records. Joseph died on 05 May 1923, and Jennie died on 28 Sep 1925. They are buried in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN (findagrave). Children: Samuel W.

3.  Charles Parks, born 1803, Newton Twp., Washington Co., Ohio, married Nancy G. Richcreek on 18 Jul 1824 in Coshocton Co., Ohio (Coshocton Co., Ohio Marriage Records 1811-1930). Nancy was born in 1809 in Loudon Co., Virginia, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Richcreek. Charles died in 1830 in Coshocton Co., Ohio. Nancy married second to John Gordon on 11 Dec 1832 in Coshocton Co., Ohio (Coshocton Co., Ohio Marriage Records 1811-1930). Nancy had a son by John named George W. Gordon. Nancy died in 1869 in Greene Co., Indiana. Charles and Nancy's children were:

Their family was listed in the 1860, 1880, and 1900 Wright, Greene Co., IN Census records. Charles d: 14 Jan 1909, and Mary d: 06 Mar 1904. Both are buried in Fairview Cemetery, Linton, Greene Co., IN. 4.  Sarah Parks, born 1809, Newton Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. She married three times. She married first to Lewis Ogan on 25 May 1826 in Coshocton Co., Ohio. Lewis was born between 1800 and 1809 (Per 1830 and 1840 Census records). Their family was listed in the 1830 Bedford Twp., Coshocton Co., Ohio Census with 2 males under 5, 1 male 20-29, 1 female 10-14, and 1 female 20-29, and the 1840 Bedford Twp., Coshocton Co., Ohio Census with 1 male under 5, 2 males 5-9, 2 males 10-14, 1 male 30-39, 1 female under 5, 1 female 30-39. Lewis died on 30 Jan 1840 and is buried in the McCurdy Family Cemetery, Tunnell Hill, Coshocton Co., Ohio. Their children were:

     Sarah married second to Thompson Roberts on 15 Sep 1844 in Coshocton Co., Ohio. Thompson was born between 1811-1820, and was married previously. Sarah and Thompson's children were:

     Sarah was listed with her family in the 1850 Bedford, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, pg. 18, household 29. Sarah married lastly to Moses Musgrave on 01 Nov 1855 in Coshocton Co., Ohio. Moses was born on 17 Apr 1777 in Pennsylvania. He was married previously to Alice Roberts. They were listed in the 1860 Jefferson, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, pg. 28, household 501, and the 1870 Adams, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, pg. 4, household 33. Moses died on 06 Sep 1873 in Coshocton Co., Ohio. Sarah was lastly listed in the 1880 Jackson, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, pg. 78, household 53, living with her daughter and son in law Jane and John Dickey. Sarah died on 13 Nov 1893 in Coshocton Co., Ohio. Moses died 06 September 1873, Coshocton Co., Ohio.

5.  William D. Parks, born 09 Oct 1812, in Ohio, married Mary Musgrave. Mary was born on 21 Apr 1812 in Ohio, the daughter of Hiram Musgrave and Alice Roberts. Their family was listed in the 1840 Jackson, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census with 2 males under 5, 1 male 15-19, 1 male 20-29, 1 female 15-19, and 1 female 20-29, the 1850 Washington, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, the 1860 Virginia, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census, and the 1870 and 1880 Washington, Coshocton Co., Ohio Census Records. Sarah b: 01 Nov 1846, OH, the daughter of David Wesley Richcreek and Dorcas E. Wasson. Their family was listed in the 1870 Washington Co., OH Census records. Sarah d: 21 Apr 1865, Coshocton Co., OH. 6.  Elizabeth Parks, born 1813, in Ohio, married William Perry Squire on 16 Oct 1836 in Coshocton Co., Ohio (Coshocton Co., Ohio Marriage Records 1811-1930). William was born in 1816 in Ohio. Their family was listed in the 1850 and 1860 Smith, Greene Co., Indiana Census, the 1870 Hett, Vermillion Co., Indiana Census, and the 1880 Mound Valley, Labette Co., Kansas Census Records.      e. Mary Ellen Squire, b: 07 Oct 1846, Coshocton Co., OH, married Benjamin A. Brooks on 03 Dec 1868, Edgar Co., IL. Benjain b: 27 Aug 1846, IL, the son of Archibald Brooks and Nancy Pownell. Mary d: 21 Jun 1914, and Benjamin d: 24 Nov 1936, TN. They are both buried in the Brooks Cemetery, Ashmore Twp., Coles Co., IL (findagrave). Children: William A., and Charles A. Brooks.

     g. Susannah W. Squire, b: 1847, Greene Co., IN, married Andrew Jackson Stiner on 06 Aug 1868, Edgar Co., IL. Andrew b: 07 Sep 1934, NJ, the son of Tobias Stiner and Mary Franklin. Andrew was married previously. Susannah d: Nov 1979 of typhoid fever. Children: Isadore, William, Benjamin D., and Charles Stiner.

     h. Rhue Anna Squire, b: 1849, Greene Co., IN

     i. David P. Squire, b: 24 Apr 1852, Greene Co., IN, married Alice Burnett on 10 Feb 1874, Labette Co., KS. Alice b: 16 Oct 1855, Greene Co., IN, the daughter of Bond Burnett and Mary Todd. David d: 25 Sep 1919 and Alice d: 15 Sep 1931. They are buried in the White Rose Cemetery, Bartlesville, Washington Co., OK. Children: Charles E., Frank, Ransford, Mary A., Ross, Harry, Fred, Edd, Earl and Lloyd Squire.

7.  Deborah Parks, born 09 Apr 1817 in Ohio, married Bradley Squire on 16 Oct 1836 in Coshocton Co., Ohio (Coshocton Co., Ohio Marriage Records 1811-1930). Bradley was born on 15 Sep 1817 in Ohio. Their family was listed in the 1850 - 1870 Greene Co., Indiana Census Records. Bradley died on 19 Jul 1878 in Greene Co., Indiana. Deborah was listed in the 1880 Greene Co., Indiana Census Records. Deborah died on 20 Jan 1901 in Greene Co., Indiana. They are buried in the Lebanon Cemetery, Midland, Greene Co., Indiana. Their children were:

     a. Perry Squire, b: 20 Jun 1837, Coshocton Co., OH. He married twice. Perry married firstly to Elizabeth Haney on 02 Apr 1857, Smith, Greene Co., IN. Elizabeth b: 15 Oct 1832, OH, the daughter of Daniel Haney and Barbara Miller. Elizabeth d: 20 Feb 1873 and is buried in the Lebanon Cemetery, Midland, Greene Co., IN (findagrave). Children: Nathan, John W., Deborah, Marha J., Grant, Ettie, and Emma Squire. Perry married secondly to Sarah A. Joyce on 18 Apr 1882, IN. Sarah b: 16 Jul 1848.      b. Nathan Squire, b: 30 Mar 1841, Coshocton Co., OH, married Sarah C. Bonham. Sarah b: 16 Mar 1844, OH, the daughter of William Bonham and Elizabeth Harmon. Nathan d: and Sarah d: 17 Sep 1933. They are buried in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Lyons, Greene Co., IN (findagrave). Children: William B., David Osborn, Charles Lewis, Rutherford B., Nathan P., and Byrd Squire.

     c. Martha C. Squire, b: 14 Jun 1843, Coshocton Co., OH, married Daniel Branstetter Neidigh on 22 Nov 1965, Greene Co., IN. Daniel b: 28 Nov 1839, Wayne Co., OH, the son of Jacob Neidigh and Mary Branstetter. Martha d: 17 Feb 1908 and Daniel d: 31 May 1926. They are buried in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Lyons, Greene Co., IN (findagrave). Children: Unknown, Delno, Freda, and Donna Neidigh.

     d. Charles Lewis Squire, b: 18 Oct 1845, Coshocton Co., OH, married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Grant on 19 Aug 1869, Sullivan Co., IN. Lizzie b: 19 Sep 1840, Virginia. Charles d: 04 Jun 1930 and Lizzie d: 09 Mar 1902. They are buried in the Olive Branch Cemetery, Linton, Greene Co., IN (findagrave). Children: Benjamin and Verna Gertrude Squire.

     e. Alfreda Jane Squire, b: 14 Apr 1848, Coshocton Co., OH, married twice. She married firstly to Stephen Ferguson. Stephen b: 1849, Lawrence Co., IN, the son of Thomas Ferguson and Susanna Clark. Children: Jason P., Charles, Lizzie E., Nathan B., and William D. Ferguson. She married secondly to Thomas Cullen. Thomas b: 09 Mar 1841, Van Wert Co., OH, the son of James Cullen and Sarah Williams. Alfreda d: 28 Nov 1945 and is buried in the Body Cemetery, Woodland, Iroquois Co., IN (findagrave).      f. Catherine I. Squire, b: 22 Jul 1850, Greene Co., IN, married Oliver Goldsmith Rogers. Oliver b: 20 Aug 1848, Greene Co., IN, the son of Lewis Rogers and Zilpha Ellexon. Catherine d: 28 Aug 1934 and is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur, Burt Co., NE (findagrave). Oliver d: 07 May 1914, and is buried in the Prospect View Cemetery, Pierce, Pierce Co., NE (findagrave).      g. Mary Ettie Squire, b: 20 May 1852, Greene Co., IN, married Charles Grant on 20 May 1875, Greene Co., IN. Charles b: 20 Jun 1848, Van Wert Co., OH, the son of Peter Grant and Anna Neff. Mary d: 14 Feb 1921 and Charles d: 02 Oct 1904. They are buried in the Beech Cemetery, Coal City, Owen Co., IN (findagrave). Children: William, and Ida Grant.

     h. William Bradley Squire, b: 20 Aug 1854, Greene Co., IN, married Fetna Martela Ferguson on 18 Oct 1873, Greene Co., IN. Fetna b: 27 Aug 1856, Lawrence Co., IN, the daughter of Thomas Ferguson and Susanna Clark. William d: 26 Jan 1938 and Fetna d: 19 Jun 1921. 8.  Deborah Levina Parks, born 26 Dec 1836 in Virginia Twp., Coshocton Co., Ohio. She married David W. Passmore on 15 Dec 1853 in Coshocton Co., Ohio. David was born ca 1835 in Ohio, the son of Josiah Passmore and Mary L. Richcreek. Elizabeth was born on 28 February 1841 in Ohio, the daughter of John Phillips and Elizabeth Dickerson. Their family was listed in the 1870 and 1880 Wright, Greene Co., Indiana Census, and the 1900 Lewis, Clay Co., Indiana Census records. Thomas died on 20 March 1941, and Elizabeth died on 27 May 1902. Rosalie b: 01 Feb 1887, France, daughter of John Portemont and Celina Pruvast. David married secondly to Minne May (Overton) Davis on 16 Jun 1917, Marion Co., IN.
