He came to the colonies when he was 17. William married twice. He married firstly to Bridget (Burton) Tuthill, widow of Henry Tuthill. Bridget was born 1614, Norwich, Co. Norfolk, England, the daughter of John Burton and Anne Gooch. Bridget died in 1650, and is buried in the Old Burying Ground, First Presbyterian Church, Southold, Suffolk Co., Long Island, New York. William married secondly to Mary Youngs. Mary was born on 07 November 1619, Co. Norfolk, England (Note: I have seen many genealogies that list Mary as the daughter of Rev. John Youngs, but I have not seen any proof as of yet). William was also elected as deputy to the New Haven Court. He and his family moved to Southold, Suffolk Co., Long Island, New York. William became Sheriff of Southold. William died 13 November 1671. Mary married secondly to Thomas Mapes. Mary died on 01 September 1709.
