William Trickey Revolutionary War Papers

State of New York, Jefferson County:
On this third day of September 1833, personally appeared in open Court, before the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas, in and for said County, now sitting, William Trickey a resident of Lansdowne UP Canada in said County, aged seventy-one years, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on his oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress, passed June 7, 1832.
That he entered the Service of the United States under the following named officers, and served as here-in stated:
That in the spring of 1777, at Cornwall, Orange Co., New York, he enlisted under Capt. Andrew Miller, Col. Hathorn, Lt. Col. Wisner, Major Papineau for nine months, marched to Minisink, Delaware, Onondaga through the western part of New York in pursuit of Indians. Gen Schuyler commander of the district returned to Warwick, Orange Co. _____ he _____ _____ _____ and was discharged after having served not less than six months. In 1778 Cornwall, mustered out under Lt. Peters, Col. Hathorn, and served not less than three weeks at Alone point, again same year enlisted and was on an alarm at Minisink under Capt. Miller same Col. served two weeks-again same year, under same officers was called out on an alarm and went to Passaic in Jersey and served two weeks, again served same year one month at Fishkill under Capt. Henry Brinsh, on the first of August 1779 or 80, at Canandaigua for four months under Capt. W. _____ joined Col. Weidenfelt _____ marched to Newburgh, Fishkill, Peekskill, Bedford, the St. Albany, Saratoga, Fort Edward, Fort George, back to Albany and now discharged after having served the full time for which he enlisted. That he was born at Warwick Furnace, New Jersey in 1762. Knows of no record of his age. Since the Revolutionary War he has resided in Cornwall and Lansdowne, Upper Canada his present _____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____ and wounded at West Point never receiving any written discharge and _____ _____ _____ _____ testimony herein _____ who can testify to his service _____ his brother John Trickey, Augustus Plumb, Festus Plumb and his neighbor Henry Bogert _____ ratify their _____ _____.
He hereby relinquishes every claim whatsoever to a pension or Annuity except the present; and declares that his name is not on the Pension Roll of the Agency of any State.

We, Henry J. Bogert a Clergyman, residing in the Town of Brockville, and Augustus Plumb residing in Lansdowne U. C. hereby certify, that we are well acquainted with William Trickey, who has subscribed and sworn to the above declaration we believe him to be Seventy-one years of age; that he is reputed and believed, in the neighborhood where he resides, to have been a soldier of the Revolution, and that we concur in that opinion.

And the said Court hereby declare their opinion, after the investigation on the matter, and after putting the interrogatories prescribed by the War Department, that the above named applicant, was a Revolutionary Soldier, and served as he states. And the Court further certifies, that it appears to them that Henry Bogert who has signed the preceding certificate, is a Clergyman, resident in the town of Brockville, U.C. and that Augustus Plumb who has also signed the same, is a resident in Lansdowne U.C. and is a credible person, and that heir statement is entitled to credit.
I, Peter Burchard, Clerk of Court of Common Pleas, do hereby certify, that the forgoing contains the original proceedings of the said Court in the matter of the application of William Trickey for a pension.

To Wit:
Samuel Miller of the Township of Fredericksburg in the Incorporated Counties of Lennox, and Addington in the Midland District and province of Upper Canada. Maketh oath and saith that to the best of his knowledge and belief he is at this time in the seventy seventh year of his age that he has been personally acquainted for upwards of sixty years with William Trickey from the Township of Lansdowne in the County of Leeds in the district of Johnston in the Province of Upper Canada. That he the said deponent that he said William Trickey was in the military service of the United States in the Revolutionary War in the Regiment Commanded by Col. Weidenfelt. Captain Henry Brewater's Company that they discharged at the same Saratoga that it was sometime after the middle of the war the exact time the deponent does not recollect-that he believes the said William Trickey to be at this time upwards of seventy years of age.
Sworn before me at Fredericksburg in the said Midland District and Province of Upper Canada, this Sixth day of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four.

I Richard Lowe of the Township of Fredericksburg in the said Counties of Lennox and Addington in the Midland District and Province of Upper Canada one of his Majesties Justice of the Peace in the Midland District and Province of Upper Canada, do hereby certify that I have been acquainted with the above deponent Samuel Miller for upward of seventeen years that I believe him to be a very honest and reputable neighbor of very good norms and credit and that _____ very _____ to believed that what he has sworn to is worthy of credit and implicit belief.

William Trickey being duly sworn doth deponent say, that he makes a declaration before the Court of said County on the 3rd of September 1833 for the purpose of obtaining a Pension and at that time provided the evidence of his brother John Trickey-at that time he also presented the testimony of Samuel Miller as to part of his service and that he has been most thorough ______ to provide further testimony but without _____ _____ forgotten deponent.

I again send this application of William Trickey for a pension with the testimony of John Trickey and Samuel Miller which seems to be all the evidence in his power to obtain. I know he has now sufficient evidence to entitle him to a pension.

Justice of the Peace in and for the county aforesaid, duly authorized by law to administer oaths, personally appeared Isaac Trickey in the County of Lansdowne, of Leeds in Canada, who being first duly sworn according to law, states that he is the Son of William Trickey in the County of Leeds Canada who was a Revolutionary Soldier and that he believes the United States are still indebted, under existing laws, for the pension that was due under the application heretofore made as aforesaid, and constitutes and appoints Willis G. Wade, of Washington, D. C. true and lawful attorney with irrevocable power to examine into, investigate, and establish the claim for said pension, and do all acts necessary thereto.
In witness thereof, Isaac Trickey has on this 21st day of February 1853, hereunto signed his name and affixed his seal.

Know all men by these presents, that I; Odle Trickey do hereby constitute of the County of Leeds and State of and province of Canada and appoint H. H. Bostwick, of Auburn, NY, my true and lawful attorney, irrevocable for me and in my behalf, to prosecute my claim for probating previous herewith it may be entitle to as _____ _____ _____ of William Trickey, this son requests it for brothers of the _____ _____ in the _____ _____ and receive such _____ as may be issued, and to appoint one or more attorneys under him for the purposes aforesaid, hereby revoking any power of attorney which may have been heretofore given, and confirming all things that my attorney the said, H. H. Bostwick, may lawfully do the premises.
