The heroes of STARSHIP TROOPERS are Johnny Rico (Van Dien) and Carmen Ibanez (Denise Richards) who are high-school sweethearts and who join the armed forces of the future. Rico hopes to marry Carmen, but a love triangle emerges as Rico and Dizzy Flores (Dina Meyer) become involved after Johnny and Carmen are separated during training after Earth is attacked by an intelligent race of giant insects from across the galaxy. The planets circling the star from which the Earth is under attack have been infested with these giant bugs There are a lot of big guns and big scary insects who snip off body parts all through the movie. There are massive battles, a lot of really great space scenes and really cool effects.
