Our development tool of choice is Delphi , a product of Borland Software Corporation. Being Turbo/Borland Pascal "bigots" of many years' standing, we are overjoyed by the advent of this unbelievably versatile and powerful visual development tool, which has Object Pascal as its programming language. Delphi provides a RAD (Rapid Application Development) environment which offers fully compiled executables, client/server scalability, 32 bit performance, true object-oriented programming, and component-based development. Delphi is up to the challenge of meeting any conceivable programming need. And, now that Delphi 6.0 has firmly established itself as the programming environment of choice among serious developers, and Delphi 7.0 Studio, in its various forms, has debuted, we expect that Delphi will not only keep up with new directions in PC development, but will follow the unbroken Borland tradition of setting standards for the entire industry.

Moreover, we are also committed to database development using the tried-and-true (dBASE, Clipper, and FoxPro) .DBF format. All the prognostication to the contrary, xBASE has not only not "gone away", but is, in fact, the core database engine for a number of very powerful mission-critical applications used by Fortune 500 companies, as well as by other organizations of every size and type to achieve their goals.

For those of you who would like to keep the flexibility and power of Borland's dBASE without the pain of the Borland Database Engine, pay a visit to our old friends at Software Science, Inc., makers of Topaz for Delphi.

Finally, even though we do not currently use their Advantage Database Server, we refer the interested reader to the Extended Systems site for another list of major corporations which use xBASE as their database format.
