The Value of a Shadow Resides In Its Light.

I Wear Sunglasses In The Shade Of My Cave.

Contrast the shadows of noonday to midnight,
Each a shade of gray, each subject to the light.
Shadows, ever present, bid their master's will,
Whether fleeting in motion or holding still.
Light casts ev'ry shadow at its master's feet,
To cloak, cover up, to shade, or sneak, and greet.
As silhouettes under the stars, love adore,
Shadows' tide, playfully yearns to swim ashore.
Whether black or white, each shadow is just right
Within arms reach throughout the day into night.

Light, refracted, casts spectrum's colored prism,
Shadows of mysterious hypnotism.
Is there question to doubt light's goodness arrayed?
Then why not the same for each shadow displayed?
For ev'ry color or shade of gray, there's a
Shadow solely linked in tandem or array.
If secret, or known, shadows deserve their home.
What's thine is thine; what's mine is my deep blue roam.

While the searing sunlight beats down the meadow,
Seek thou not pleasure from linden tree's shadow?
Grasp each fleeting moment, caught in photographs,
Or in secret dreams⎯shadows of smiles and laughs.
Whether at work, at play, at war, and at peace,
Or at hate, or bless'd love, shadows never cease.
Sitting near the warm fire many shadows dance
About, overshadowing thy night's romance.
Even shadowed by total eclipse ye kiss,
And there behold thy love's countenance, full bliss.

Doth dark quandary thus shadow thy deepest thought,
To trust believing a sign must need be sought?
Seek only the master of thy shaded plot,
And there shalt thou see the light which casts his lot.
No mystery eludes thy pondering aim;
Even amid darkest new moon night proclaim
Ye to know each shadow's light by name.  Something
From each twilight always dawns as the bells ring.

Remembering shadows at the master's feet⎯
No secret, how amid shadows, ye didst meet.
Is this a foreshadowing, things yet to come?
I fear not thy shadows, to know each one some.
Overshadowed by thy love shade turns each night
Into the deepest darkest secret delight.
I shall forever love all thy shades of gray,
So forget hidden meanings; it's time we play.
