WILSON HOUSE FIRE
The Wilson House fire was one of the biggest fires in the city of North Adams history. When the first alarms rang in, a major fire was already raging trapping many tenants inside. The first two firefighters to arrive and enter the building were met with heavy smoke conditions on the upper floors. They only had minute to perform the rescues of trapped tenants. When entering the first room to rescue a trapped woman fire fighters noticed they could see the raging flames below, through the cracks between the floor. The building was located on the corner of Main & Holden streets. The building was a totally loss.
