Mcclaren Motors into Old Trafford

Friday, February 05, 1999 Derby County's assistant manager Steve McClaren has been confirmed as the new number two to Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford. A press conference has been announced for 1 pm on Monday, when McClaren's appointment will be officially unveiled. The 37-year-old had coached Derby for nearly four years, following a premature end to his playing career with Hull, Derby, Lincoln City, Bristol City and Oxford United. Steve takes the mantle left by Brian Kidd who departed so unexpectedly in December.
