Phi Beta Psi is a not-for-profit, non-academic
sorority that was founded February 15, 1904, in Columbus, Ohio, under the
laws of that state. We were founded by six young girls who sought
q way to continue their close friendship after their graduation.
Our beloved founders were.........
Edith Ellen Wolf
Gertrude Brown Foster
Mildred Daniel VanAtta
Anna McSweeney Martin
Katherine Ruder Routzong
May Eva Lied Smith
(all now deceased)
The dream of these six girls has expanded
to 237 chapters being issued since 1904. Currently, Phi Beta
Psi has 2,082 members of active chapters in 14 states. Sorority Sisters
share a bond that lasts a lifetime.
Our organization is based on Christian
principles and our purpose is to promote fraternal relationships among
members and to conduct or participate in charitable, benevolent and civic
projects. The Phi Beta Psi national project is Cancer Research.
Cancer Research Grants in excess of $200,000.00 were awarded at the 1997
National Convention (July, 1997) of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority. (from
annual report year end May 31, 1997)
Although personal circumstances do not
allow me to be as active in my chapter as I would like
to be, or even as I once was, I consider it a privilege
to be a member of the
Phi Beta Psi Sorority.
