David & Trina from Bluffton, Minnesota. The project that they worked on was called "Operation Christmas Child," offered through Samaritan's Purse(an international relief organization) and led by Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham(the evangelicist). Operation Christmas Child sends a message of hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift filled shoe boxes and Christian literature. The program provides an opportunity for individuals of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project that reaches out to suffering children while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas – Jesus Christ, God's greatest gift. In 1999, over 3 million shoe boxes were collected worldwide and distributed to children in some 60 countries. David & Trina picked loads of wild mustard plants from a new seeding just south of the farmstead. Mosquitos were terrible, even though the sun had been shining that day. Everyone quit picking, especially after seeing mustard plants in the neighbor's field, knowing they'd eventually come back to the newly seeded ground.

(David's Home)
June 20, 2005

A storm went through Ottertail and Wadena Counties, on June 20th, about 10:30a.m. It knocked down several trees on our pasture fencing, in our back woods, across our driveway and also branches were blown all over our yard, which took almost a week to clean up. The photo above is David's new home in Wadena, MN, where 2 pine trees fell, during that 20 minute storm that passed through. Although laying across his front porch steps and touching his window, it didn't wreck anything of major importance. Shown here, it reached from one neighbor's driveway, clear across David's driveway and touched the house of his neighbor on the other side. It took 4 hay wagon loads of brush, trunk and tree limbs to clear out his yard. Later on the city came and ground out his stumps, at no charge, as they were hauling everything in town, out to the old airport. What a site that was!!!
