Friday, September 4, 1998, I e-mailed Hanson's manager, Christopher Sabec, the following message. Below that, is his response, which I received the following day. I think people living in or around South Carolina will find this message extremely fulfilling.
What I wrote:
Mr. Sabec:
First of all, I just want to say thank you for helping Hanson get their music out to the rest of the world. They're one of my favorite bands, and they've truly been an inspiration to me. I was lucky enough to see them in Atlanta in July, but I must say-getting there was a miracle. See, I live in Beaufort, South Carolina, slightly north of Hilton Head Island (if you've ever heard of it), and it put a major strain on my parents to get my friend and I to the concert because we had to drive five hours. I missed the Charlotte concert because of the length of the drive as well. I don't know who is in charge of selecting the cities for Hanson to tour, but I was just wondering why the cities are so spread out, and why Hanson only plays the major cities. The fact that South Carolina was literally skipped over for the tour is a major disappointment to myself, as well as other fans in the area. I once heard (this may be a rumor) that Hanson themselves had said they were going to tour major cities, but also the smaller ones during the Albertane Tour. I don't see that to be true in any way. I'm sure cities like Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA, have venues that can hold enough people for a Hanson concert. Another thing I would like to point out is that in most areas, school has already begun. Therefore, scheduling a concert on a weeknight presents a problem for most people, especially for those of us who have to travel for hours to the concert. Is there any way, since the tour seems to be extended once again, that you could schedule a concert near or in South Carolina? Or if that is not possible, will Hanson be touring Florida for more than two dates? I would really appreciate it if you could respond to me as soon as you can.
Thank you,
Ashleigh
His response:
We will not be coming to SC this tour, sorry. But on the next tour I will look at Charleston and Columbia. :)
Cheers,
Christopher
So, see ya'll? We really can make a difference! And who knows? I heard from a few Internet friends that Hanson should start touring after the new album is recorded, which should be December or January, depending on when the present tour ends. Just thought I'd like to share that with ya'll! It definitely brightened my day! :)
