What is an MRM? The Midyear Regional Meeting is a meeting sponsored by the Academy of the Students of Pharmacy (ASP), which is a part of the American Pharmaceutical Assocation (APhA). It offers thougth-provoking educational programs about the many changes occurring in the pharmacy profession today. Additionally, the MRM offers career opportunity exhibits, career opportunity information, networking opportunities with 7 other pharmacy schools, and socialization times to relax and have fun with other students. Students are also able to participate actively in the APhA-ASP policy proposal process, which basically allows students to have a political voice in their profession by providing an opportunity to voice ideas pertaining to healthcare and pharmacy practice. When is the MRM? October 31st - Nobember 2nd Where is the 1997 MRM going to be held? The Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Buffalo New York Who is invited to the MRM? Pharmacy students from the 8 universities in Region One: University of Connecticut Saint John's University University of Rhode Island Massachusetts College of Pharmacy Albany College of Pharmacy Northeastern University Arnold and Marie Scwartz College of Pharmacy (LIU) SUNY Buffalo When do you register and how much is it? The early-bird registration deadline is September 30th. The fee is only $50 for ASP members and $70 for nonmembers. On-Site registration is also available to both members and nonmembers. See APhA's Student Link for details on registration as well as registration forms (downloadable from site). How do I register and where will I stay? See APhA's Student Link (previous page) for registration forms, hotel information, and all related information. What is the Policy Proposal Forum all about? The PPF is all about democracy and the right to voice your ideas pertaining to healthcare and pharmacy issues. Any ideas at all are encouraged to be PROPOSED at the PPF, where everyone at the meeting will be. Once an individual raises his/her hand and voices and idea targeted at improving healthcare and/or the pharmacy practice in general, that idea is dicussed openly via the exchange of thougths raised by it within the audience (all those at the MRM). If a majority of students agree with the proposed idea, it will then be forwarded on in the legislative process and may eventually become a Resolution of ASP-APhA. Most importantly though, is that the process allows students as a whole to say what are important issues and/or areas of concern within healthcare and pharmacy practice today form their prospective. All who will be attending the MRM are encouraged to think about possible ideas to PROPOSE to go onto become resolutions. How can I become a Regional Officer?
