From the Editor

My how time flies! We are half way through the year already. It is amazing that elections are rolling around again. We are accepting self-nominations for board members. Any member who is in good standing is eligible to run for office. We will accept nominations until August 31^st. Mail or phone us if you are interested. Ballots will be mailed in September. This is your time to get involved. We will welcome your input.

This has been a good year for the Coalition. We are working to strengthen the fat community. This month, we are having a joint beach party with the Inland Chapter of NAAFA on Aug.16^th. See details inside. There has been interest from several people about forming an Orange County chapter. We will be naming a focus committee to look into the possibility.

Alice Ansfield, publisher of Radiance magazine, is starting a program tentatively called "Kids Project" This program will act as a resource and outreach to kids, teens and young adults to promote positive self-esteem. We will be supporting her in this effort and any ideas you have we will forward to her. We would like to be a major contributor to this cause and eventually use this program in our local area.
