Sevier Family History by Cora Sevier and Nancy S Madden lists Sarah Hawkins' father as Joseph Hawkins, son of John Hawkins b. 1680 in England, d. prior to Oct 7 1740, and married to Sarah Marlin, settled about 1705 St. Anne's Parish Essex Co. There is a very good Hawkins genealogy on the Internet: which lists among Joseph Hawkins children, Sarah Hawkins. The Hawkins family says that particular Joseph Hawkins was married to Jane Nicholas but lists among their children Sarah Hawkins. Recent information suggests that either Joseph Hawkins was married twice, or there was some confusion in the lineage between generations of the distinguished Hawkins family, which descends from Sir John Hawkins. Research is still being done on this line of the family.
