BB Magazine 12/97 Amazing bloom in Savage Garden: Sure they sound alot like the Swedish 80's band Roxette when they sing hat "chic-a-cherry cola" song, but they're Australia's Savage Garden and the song is called "I Want You." It's the first single off their self-titled CD, and the catchy pop song's futuristic-gothic video also happens to be one of the hottest videos of the year. Named after the beautiful, yet savage world of vampires chronicled in the novels by Anne Rice (author of "Interveiw With the Vampire"), Savage Garden was formed four years ago when Daniel Jones, now 24, advertised for a singer, and Darren Hayes, now 25, responded. The two clicked instantly. "I think there are only a few times in your life when you meet the key people and go,' Wow, this is amazing,' " Darren has said. "I actually remember thinking that my world was never going to be the same." He was right. As Savage Garden sat in a recording studio laying down tracks for the album, both group members still couldn't believe what was happening. "We we still desparately trying to come to terms with the fact that we had begun the journey," Daniel has said. "We were in the process of actually doing what we had dreamed of all our lives." Now the dream has come true. "It seems like only yesterday I was sitting there praying for this," Darren's said. "It has literally come from nowhere." Out of nowhere, maybe. But definately going somewhere. Their second single, "To the Moon and Back," has just been released, and if the song's title is any indication of where the band is headed, put your seat belts on 'cause it's gonna be one FUN ride!
