Aqua was made in 1989, when Claus and Soeren got together and started making songs, they met Rene during a recording of the movie "Fraekke Frida",Rene took the Norwegian singer called Lene to Denmark, and together they founded a band called "JoySpeed", wich got a Swedish contract, and only achieved a week on the sweedish charts with the single "Itzy Bitzy". The four members werent quite happy with the way things were going. so they decided to start all over again, and desolve the contract.
The name Aqua came from a poster, in theyr practice room, with the word Aquarium on it, and from their new name, "Aqua-arose..
Shortly after the music started to make shape, they had soon a contract deal with Universal Music.
Aqua's first single "Roses are Red" was released in September 1996, and went right into the charts, where it stayed for a several months.
The proof that the sound of aqua was missing in Danish music, came when the group received platinum for the sale of "roses are red" , and further more received a nomination for a grammy for this years best Danish dance publication.
Aqua's second single "my oh my" was releised in February 1997 and went straight to the charts, they received gold after on ly 6 days on the charts, wich is awsome for a country as small as Denmark.
