I bought this fine Mercury Bobcat station wagon a few years ago for Karen to drive. When I bought it the air conditioning did not work. I fixed the AC and put in a new timing belt. We drove the Bobcat for quite a while with no trouble at all. We took the Bobcat on a long tent camping trip out west, because it got the best gas milage of all the vehicles we owned and it had room in the back for all our lugage and camping equipment. I had put new tires on the front of the Bobcat before we left on the trip but I thought the back tires were good enough to make it. I was wrong about the back tires because we blew one of them 600 miles from home. I put the spare on and drove on to the next big town and purchased two new tires for the back. Shortly after we returned home Karen was driving the Bobcat and the engine shelled. I found a wrecked 1978 Bobcat with low miles for the engine and transmission but by the time I had the engine and transmission in our Bobcat wagon we had purchased a 1984 Mercury Capri and we didn't need the Bobcat for a driver any more. Periodically I start the Bobcat up and drive it around the grain bins on our farm to keep it lubed up, it runs really good but I can only license and insure so many cars so I haven't driven it on the road since.
