Kamal Hassan and Manisha Koirala have been adjudged the best actor and
actress respectively in the Tamil films' category at the 43rd annual
Filmfare (south) awards announced on Tuesday.
Kamal Hassan has confirmed his record of the highest winner of Filmfare awards
with his 16th Best Actor trophy for his intense portrayal of an
anti-terrorist officer in Kurudhipunnal.
Manisha Koirala wins the Best actress trophy for the original Tamil version
of Bombay wherein she sensitively portrayed a young Muslim woman caught in
the tumult of communal riots.
Bombay has also won the Best Tamil Film award. Mani Ratnam has won the Best
Director award for his hard-hitting work in Bombay while AR Rehman has
bagged the Best Music award for his chartbusting score in the same film.
