A superdeformed self-portrait

I guess this makes me a hypocrite, doesn't it?  In case it wasn't obvious to you yet, I'm talking about things like Otaku Senshi Academy Awards and Neo-Queen Serenity's Golden Globe Awards (no offense to whoever owns those pages, your pages are great and I'm not complaining about them, it's just that I hate the concept of these Senshi award things).  These things are just big huge popularity contests.  Most of them, anyway.
Before you scream at me for being hypocritical, I'd better explain what exactly I'm talking about here.  My point is that I hate those things where people vote for their favorite fanfics, fanfic senshi, and all that.  Because they're a popularity contest and nothing else.  But I have nothing against the awards where the person giving out the awards is the judge of which sites get them.  It's just that when you let people vote, they'll just pick their friends and only the most popular people will get the awards even if they have a cruddy fanfic.
I mean, if the people all vote for themselves, and they have a bunch of friends who vote for them in those things, chances are that they'll get the award even if they have a page that sucks, right?  Exactly.  For example, a certain fanfic whom I will not mention its name or the author's name.  I heard it was a good fanfic and I *tried* to read it.  Notice I said that I tried.  But I couldn't even get past the first part because it was so boring and totally pointless.  The author also self-inserted herself into the fic as the main, almost all-powerful senshi.  It was pretty much a dumb fanfic (even though it had good art, it was still dumb).  But guess what.  This fanfic won Best Fanfic at one of these "awards" things.  Why?  Because it was, for some reason, a popular fic written by a popular person.  See what I mean?  No matter how much this person's fic sucked, they still won best fanfic.
Today, I saw a really good fanfic that I thought deserved to win one of those best fanfic things.  But then I found out that they were in the same competition as the other fanfic that I mentioned above and didn't even get into the final event.  Even though they were a whole lot better than this other fanfic, they still didn't get the award or even come close to getting it because the other bad fanfic got more votes because it was more popular.  In my opinion, that's really unfair.
I know what you're thinking now.  "What a hypocrite, complaining about award pages that are exactly like her own," right?  Well, so if I am a hypocrite.  But with my award page, the people get to vote but I make the final decisions on which senshi gets the award.  Like if a bunch of people vote for a certain senshi, but I don't like that senshi or that senshi is just stupid or all-powerful or something like that, that senshi won't win.  See, there's a difference there.
Which is why I didn't win at the Best Otaku Senshi Awards.  Because there are senshi in those awards that are competing against mine, that may not be as good as mine, but are more popular.  Which totally sucks, but I guess that's how life is, isn't it. (But at least a good senshi won the B.O.S.S., Sailor Appollo)
