FAQ's about Sailormoon
Now, I've added this feature to the website simply because I've noticed quite a reoccuring trend of e-mails asking the same questions. Now as I said on the main page, don't get me wrong, I love to hear from you, but I figured, I better cut some of these easily answered questions before they're even though of. So here is my collection of what I believe are some of the most commoningly asked questions about the series we all love. Enjoy!
Question: How Many episodes of Sailormoon are there?
Answer: There are excellent 200 episodes of Sailormoon the Television Series that are broken into 5 seasons, Sailormoon, Sailormoon R(omance), Sailormoon S(uper), Sailormoon SuperS(uper), and Sailormoon, Sailor Stars. There are also 3 movies, and a TV Special Called "Ami's first love". There are also several live musicals of Sailormoon floating around.
Question: How far does the Cartoon Network verison of Sailormoon go to?
Answer: The DiC(Cartoon Network verison) of Sailormoon ends at Sailormoon R. In truth Sailormoon R wasn't even completely dubbed for sometime, but was recently completed for Canadian TV and eventually found its way to Syndication in the United States, and then on Cartoon Network, in the form of "The 17 lost episodes".
Question: When does Sailor Uranus, Neptune and Saturn appear?
Answer: Sailor Uranus(Haruka Tenoh) and Sailor Neptune(Michiru Kaioh) both first appear in episode 90, which is the beginning of Sailormoon S in there senshi forms and then appear in episode 93(correct me if I'm wrong, it may be 94) as Michiru and Haruka. It is also the episode right after the last dubbed Sailormoon episode, which is episode 89. As for Sailor Saturn(Hotaru Tomoe) she appears much later as a friend of Chibi-usa, and eventually is discovered to be the Senshi of Saturn much more towards the end of S.
Question: Are Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus Lovers?
Answer: One of the more "touchier" subjects about the whole series. For quite sometime, Naoko Takeuchi(creator) described their relationship as "extremely close friendship" and also stated how it was to show that girls can have extremely, close and trusting friendships with each other. Yet, in an interview with Animerica at the San Diego Comic Con last year, she did state that she intended them to be lovers, even though you never physically see them kiss, or other such. Yet some lines in Sailor Moon S, and in Sailor Stars would have you kind of figure it out rather quickly. ^^;;
Question: Will Sailor Moon S ever be shown on Cartoon Network?
Answer: That, I can't truely answer, but in all likelyhood, no. There is really 2-3 major reasons why on this subject. First off, theres the problem of Haruka and Michiru. DiC most certainly would NEVER allow that sorta relationship exist, and to edit that out it would take probably way too much footage. My second reason is its just not worth the money to dub it to many companies. Even though Sailormoon has had quite a successful run on Cartoon Network, its still only cable and very few Network channels carry Sailormoon for Syndication these days. The companies just wouldn't make a profit. Yet, before you get your hopes down, theres still always fansubs, and also, there has been talk of a domestic release of the 3 Sailormoon movies sometime in the future.
Question: Are the Sailor Starlights Male or Female orginally?
Answer: Ahh... another interesting question. In the TV Series, they're orginally Male, but turn into Females when in Senshi form since all Senshi's must be female. YET, in the Manga(comic) by Naoko Takeuchi, they're female. Now as far as I know, Naoko did not approve of the gender change, and was rather unhappy with it, thats all I can report on that.
Question: Is there anymore Sailormoon being made in Japan?
Answer: No. The series is completely over. That includes both the Anime in all forms, and the Manga. Naoko Takeuchi said it was over, so its over. Yet, she also stated at the San Diego Comic Con that she was unhappy with the ending ot the TV Series and probably wouldn't mind seeing an OAV(orginally animated to Video) series come out, yet none as far as I heard is planned, and no new plotlines are being made by Takeuchi.
Question: Where can I find Sailormoon Merchandise?
Answer: Just look around on the web. There are tons of Anime Merchandise sites just dying to sell you whatever you so desire. yet, if all else fails try www.animenation.com. They have quite a selection and are extremely fast on most cases about delivery.
Think I should have had another question on there? Well, drop me a letter and tell me what I missed!
